Waivlength - a social media dApp which embodies everything web3. It is an autonomous social platform built on Algorand. A platform which is profit-sharing, owned and governed by its community. Waivlength is a start-up based in Ireland and we are looking for ambitious people to join our team to help us build the next social media platform aiming for global adoption to rival leading mainstream social platforms.
Compensation
We will compensate this role through our native currency $WAIV for the same notional value as your desired salary for a 3 month period. There are vesting terms attached to out token that will be released later this year. We will then move to Fiat payment after this period.
Equity range 0% - 0.5% represents ownership of Token supply earned during this 3 month period. As our token is a governance token, it acts as an ownership stake in Waivlength. We can provide further details on this when requested.

The Position
We are looking for an ambitious Lead Machine Learning Engineer to drive our machine learning engineering team. As a Lead Machine Engineer you will architect and build machine learning models and systems to power the core of the Waivlength product. The work will initially focus on the major areas of the platform that will contribute to a fully decentralized social network. You will also mentor and train junior team members on machine learning best practices, and your responsibilities might also involve hiring new team members and further building out the machine learning team engineering team.

You will spearhead the engineering life-cycle at Waivlength, including designing decentralized machine learning systems, writing production code and conducting code reviews. You’ll apply data science, machine learning and/or graph analysis techniques to a variety of modeling and relevance problems involving users, their relationships, their tweets and their interests.
What you’ll be doing at Waivlength looks like this:
● You’ll determine the structure and design of the Waivlength machine learning platform
● Building an MLops pipeline to train machine learning models
● Building a personalized search and recommendation systems for users across the network
● You will collaborate with blockchain developers, and user experience designers to ensure all elements of app creation are consistent. This requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● You will be using a variety of structured and unstructured data sources
● Developing machine learning models to enhance the user experience.
● Building reusable code for future use.
● Tackling real-world challenges using state-of-the-art machine learning and NLP techniques
● Deliver great impact on millions of users
● Hold end-to-end ownership of production machine learning models

Required Skills and Experience
● Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields at time of application
● Have 4+ years experience in one or more of the following machine learning, information retrieval, recommendation systems, social network analysis, NLP
● Designed and evaluated approaches for handling high-volume real-time data streams.
● A strong technical advocate with a 4+ years experience in Python, Tensorflow or Pytorch
● Comfortable conducting design and code reviews.
● Knowledgeable of core CS concepts such as common data structures and algorithms, profiling/optimization.
● Passionate about working with large unstructured and structured data sets ( for example multi-terabyte daily transaction volumes).
● Experienced in collaborating across multiple teams including analytics, product management, and operations.
● Strong communication skills both verbal and written and a willingness to support/mentor other team members including participating in regular code reviews
● Strong software engineering best practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documentation). Willingness to get things done, take initiative and challenge existing assumptions and conventions.
● Interest in learning about Web3 technologies
● Have 4+ years experience in one or more of the following machine learning, information retrieval, recommendation systems, social network analysis, NLP
