Compensation: $90k - $100k estimated

Location: CA San Francisco, California, United States

About NEAR

NEAR Protocol is a developer-first blockchain that emphasizes convenience and speed of development on the NEAR platform while minimizing the entrance barrier for developers coming from the blockchain ecosystem, as well as regular web and mobile development space.

We are looking for a talented, meticulous, and productive person who loves working in an energetic and free-thinking environment, feels comfortable challenging opinions, and most importantly who shares with us the same desire to make the web free again.

We encourage people of all backgrounds to apply. NEAR is committed to creating an inclusive culture, and we celebrate diversity of all kinds.

About The Role:

Are you a world-class leader in the Quality Assistance space? NEAR Protocol is looking for a Lead Quality Assistance Engineer to join the wallet team! We build and maintaining the wallet interface, which is a central piece of the NEAR developer and user ecosystems. The wallet allows NEAR users to manage their accounts and owned assets, and is a key part of the NEAR experience for all dapp users and developers.

As Lead Quality Assistance Engineer, you will work closely with developers, product managers and designers to facilitate the full software development lifecycle of the NEAR Wallet. You will participate in research at the forefront of the digital asset user and developer experience, and have the opportunity to have massive impact in a fast-growing and cutting-edge industry.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Collaborating with internal and external engineers and community contributors to ensure a high standard for our deliverables
  • Creating and contributing to documentation relating to the QA processes for the project, in order to facilitate high quality outputs from the software development process on the wallet team
  • Helping to train and mentor more junior QA engineers on the team as we grow

What We're Looking For:

  • 10+ years experience working in the quality assistance field on production software applications
  • Experience designing, socializing and implementing QA processes end-to-end in a fast-paced environment — you have owned the entire QA process for a production-shipping development tea
  • Strong communication and remote-friendly working skills
  • Awareness of frontend stack development. Do you understand HTTP/Websockets, REST APIs?
  • Ability to learn new technology stacks quickly
  • Strong written documentation skills; you will own the QA process end-to-end and must be able to cast your vision to the rest of the (widely distributed/remote) team
  • Strong sense of ownership and pride in your craft
  • Experience iterating on production software and collaborating with multiple facets of the organisation - engineering, product management and designers.
  • Experience with automated test suites, both for unit tests and E2E — Mocha/Chai, Detox, Playwright, Selenium, etc.

We'd Love If You Have:

  • Familiarity with crypto or blockchain technologies
  • Experience working at a startup
  • Javascript development experience — you don’t need to be a full-time developer to be great at this role, but having awareness of how
  • JS works and the JS toolchain is extremely valuable.
