Web3 Senior Data Engineer

Compensation: $91k - $96k estimated

Location: MA Boston, Massachusetts, United States

About the position:

PlanetX is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a high functioning team of data scientists and technologists who leverage data and technology to create the insights that consumers are lacking to inform their purchases.

The Data Engineer and the team will directly contribute to a new experience that translates the massive power of our technology into simple and elegant solutions. We believe our industry is complicated, but we don’t believe our platform should be.

As a Data Engineer at PlanetX, you will have a unique opportunity to shape the data and advanced analytics shaping our platform that will be used by thousands of people across the globe. You will be important not just to the data science team, but to the company as a whole.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience in creating complex sql stored procedures & views.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, no sql databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Experience building and optimizing big ETL data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on data, answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • A successful history of transforming, processing, and extracting data from large data warehouse.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Combine raw data from disparate data sources that serve as the foundation for PlanetX’s products.
  • Collaborate extensively with data scientists and software engineers.
  • Be a leading voice in creating the data architecture for PlanetX.
  • Identify data acquisition opportunities.
  • Produce high-quality work in a fast-paced, complex, and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Lead through rapidly evolving, complex demands, including multiple projects with dependencies on other internal teams
  • Assists in vetting data and understanding the collectional methodology of data that is sourced from around the globe that will inform consumers as to how the products they buy impact our Planet.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A passion for combining data and technology for making the Planet a better place.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of work experience in working with large data sets, both structure and unstructured
  • Strong experience building complex ETL data pipelines with scheduling and monitoring ( for batch processing
  • Experience with AWS data tools and/or Snowflake.
  • Mastery of SQL and working knowledge of Python
  • Extra points for experience in constructing complex data ontologies and experience with Neptune.
  • Experience with large disparate data sets and writing SQL queries, ideally with ESG and company data.
  • Uncompromising ethics and sound judgment
