RESPONSIBILITIES:

• You will own a broad set of research projects across a wide variety of topics including:
  • Cutting-edge research into market structure on a distributed exchange, including MEV and other incentive analysis
  • Novel mechanism design questions
  • Internal-facing analysis to help the business understand its users and product
  • External-facing projects to contribute to the global conversation on protocol design / trading / DeFi evolution

• Provide advisory services to other parts of the business on analytical / quantitative problems
• Collaborate with dYdX partners to enrich the research perspective

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s (or equivalent experience) in math / computer science / physics / statistics or other STEM degree
• Excellent analytical skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Deep desire to ask questions, understand data, and develop hypotheses
• 3 years working experience in a technical role (developer / analyst / quant / data scientist)
• Experience with our technologies: SQL / Python / Pandas
• Willing to relocate to NYC

NICE TO HAVES:

• Experience in or knowledge of trading (especially HFT), market structure, and derivatives
• Knowledge of and passion for everything in DeFi (especially dYdX!) and web3 with a track record
• Knowledgeable in MEV and crypto trading strategies
• Experience with blockchain applications / smart contracts

Salary range for this role is 150K - 200K USD. Compensation subject to experience and location. Published salary bands pursuant to transparency laws, and do not include possible variable compensation such as annual merit increases, bonus eligibility, commission, or equity incentive.
