Web3 Sr. Backend Engineer

ZTX is a web3 metaverse initiative jointly incubated by ZEPETO — a global leader in 3D metaverse with over 400 million users and over 3 million daily transactions of virtual items — and leading global blockchain organizations including Jump Crypto.

Building with mass adoption in mind, we are creating a 3D open world with varying levels of gamification integrated as well as opportunities for users to monetize via ownership of digital assets and social interaction. Our goal is to empower creators and communities to build, play, and earn — a world where users of all backgrounds can chart their journeys into a world beyond the physical.

We are looking for a passionate top-class Sr. Backend Engineer who can help bring our vision into reality. What you would be doing:

• Work closely with CTO, VP of Engineering, designers, game producers, and engineers to implement our open world metaverse experiences.
• Contribute and lead backend design discussions, stand up meetings, and code reviews.
• Develop and own best practices for backend application development with a focus on high throughput, high reliability, and low latency
• Work with team members to create and define well scoped tasks for sprints.
• Interact with blockchain engineers and collectively decide what components should be on-chain vs off-chain
• Collaborate with team members to deploy backend services in production with regional awareness.
• Present cost benefit analysis between given technical design and the impact short-term vs. long-term.

What we look for in a candidate:

• 8+ years of experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining highly available, scalable customer-facing backend systems.
• 4+ years of experience in Go.
• 2+ years of experience with data pipeline and warehouses (e.g. AWS Redshift + Glue or Airflow ETL)
• Extensive experience with NoSQL database technologies (e.g. DynamoDB or MongoDB)
• Familiarity with eventual finality on decentralized blockchains and its impact on off-chain systems
• Experience with managing production infrastructure with Terraform (Terraform Cloud), CloudFormation and/or CDK.
• Experience with best practices when it comes to data integrity and security.
• Self-starter attitude with the ability to execute new ideas with autonomy and take ownership.
• Passion in building a collaborative and inclusive metaverse that onboards millions of web2 users to web3!

Bonus point if:

• You have knowledge of “Unity” gaming engine.
• You have experience building a service that works with resource-constrained clients.
• You have worked in a game studio and/or a web3 project before.
• You are familiar and interested in the crypto ecosystem (DeFi, NFTs, L1s, L2s, identity, staking, or more).
• You speak and write in Korean.
• You have pet-tech projects outside of work.
