At the Celo Foundation, we support various partners across the Celo Ecosystem including cLabs, the team working on the open source platform Celo, whose mission is to build a financial system that creates the conditions for prosperity for all.
Celo aims to remove the barriers for large-scale adoption of cryptocurrencies as means-of-payment. Using a novel address-based encryption algorithm, the Celo protocol makes sending money as easy as sending a text. Additionally, Celo uses stable-value tokens pegged to fiat currencies, like the US Dollar, to minimize volatility. Celo is an open protocol enabling many to participate in the system, even with a budget Android smartphone. The first application launched on the Celo platform, Valora, is a social payments and money transfer app, aimed at developing markets.

You Will:

      • Partner with Celo foundation employees and the broader Celo APAC community to write and edit content for the communications strategy in APAC, including web, email, blog, news releases, and social
      • Assist APAC Comms Lead to implement a robust APAC media relations function, with agency support, to effectively position Celo in both industry and mainstream media outlets
      • Support APAC Comms Lead to manage local PR agencies including reviewing their article content, coordinating with press release posts, event planning, and tracking their monthly KPIs.
      • Translate Celo blog posts from English to Chinese and other APAC local languages
      • Assist in APAC community management on Wechat, telegram, discord, or other local preference platforms
      • Assist in APAC ambassador program management including reviewing their task submissions, tracking KPIs, coordinating weekly meetings, sharing supporting documents to make sure ambassadors always share the most up-to-date information about Celo with the community
      • Identify, sort, and prioritize local influencers and upcoming events to support the influencer partnership and event selection process
      • Collect data and create monthly reports to track PR strength in APAC
      • Monitor APAC local trending topics and policy changes regarding crypto and share them with the team
      • Coordinate communications between local builders and Celo’s dev team and collect builder and user stories about Celo
      • Tell beautiful stories that balance both the promise and realization of Celo’s mission

You Have:

      • 3-5 years work experience in PR, Media, or social media
      • 2-3 years PR agency/vendor management experiences
      • Great article writing skills
      • 1-2 years of social media management experience (platforms such as Weibo, WeChat, and more)
      • 1-2 years of project and people management experience
      • 2-3 years of community management experience
      • Basic knowledge of cryptocurrency, blockchain, and DeFi
      • Basic data analysis and reporting skills and comfortable using data to drive content insights
      • A visual storyteller that can use videos and images to tell beautiful stories
      • Bilingual: English and Chinese
      • Residency Location: Non-mainland of China citizens
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with multiple stakeholders within a rapidly changing industry
      • Thoughtfulness and attention to detail with regard to storytelling and the holding of the Celo brand, honoring the quality and uniqueness of Celo’s voice
      • Proven experience operating on a global level with an international perspective and sensitivity to cultural nuances
      • An avid user of social media networks with a keen sense for how people are using them
      • An excellent communicator with high emotional intelligence
      • An independent and self-driven go-getter who can prioritize work and self-manage
      • Excited about blockchain and cryptocurrency and their potential
