The Company:

Through a series of strategic investments within the entertainment sector in the past eight years, Raven, a private equity firm, formalized those investments under the holding company RCM Entertainment. To date, RCME has deployed $280 MM in the form of 2 library investments, 7 new release films distributed, 5 feature film productions, and 3 documentary features/series produced while also building studio services in sales, marketing, distribution, merchandise, and licensing.

Under the revitalized Open Road banner (acquired in 2019), RCME/Open Road has theatrically distributed films, including THE MARKSMAN, HONEST THIEF, COPSHOP, AFTER WE COLLIDED, STUDIO 666, and more. Subsequently, RCME acquired Exclusive Media Group, expanding its library to over 300 titles, including classics from filmmakers such as Ron Howard, Eli Roth, Oliver Stone, George Clooney, and many more. RCME recently launched a podcast media company in partnership with Bron Studios and Focus Features executive alum Anjay Nagpal called Entropy Media to generate original IP in the form of both non-scripted and scripted podcasts designed for cross-platform adaptations. RCME’s strategic partnerships also include best-in-class filmmakers and storytellers such as Sculptor Media, Michael Covino & Kyle Marvin's Watch This Ready, and David Ayer's Cedar Park. RCME Upcoming projects include the feature films BLACK FLIES starring Sean Penn & Tye Sheridan, THUG starring Liam Neeson, and a straight-to-series television adaptation of Ayer's END OF WATCH with Fox.


The Role:

RCME is looking to fill a key strategic and financial role with tremendous opportunity for growth. The executive will create, with guidance from the CEO, and actively manage Raven’s deal analysis and cash flow models on a per picture/show and aggregate basis. The executive will work closely with Business Affairs, Finance, Production and Distribution executives to analyze opportunities across film, TV, documentary and podcasts. The executive will also be involved in communicating and reporting to investors, banks, and other partners and third parties. This role provides exposure to a wide variety of businesses within the media and entertainment industry. The position reports to the CFO.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and update business plans for all RCME divisions & affiliates and present to Raven partners & studio leadership.
  • Create business plan and green light analysis for all film and TV projects including financial model, sales and distribution strategy, etc.
  • Analyze Business Development and investment opportunities across existing media verticals as well as new technologies and platforms such as Web3/NFT, blockchain, VR/AR, etc.
  • Analyze independent film financing and production opportunities using International Pre-Sales and soft money with bank debt to calculate equity needs.
  • Create and maintain studio distribution models for purposes of assessing co-fi opportunities with ability to calculate multiple financier and talent participations.
  • Create ultimates for all titles and track vs participation statements.
  • Create and maintain annual slate model with a cash flow component, and track actual vs forecasted cash flow.
  • Prepare reports and financial statements for investors and banking partners as needed.
  • Liquidity and cash management analysis.
  • Analyze a variety of debt and financing structures as they relate to media projects or ventures.
  • Create various databases, tracking spreadsheets, and reports for various parties.
  • Work with accounting to aid in preparation of financial statements, audits, third party participations, residuals, etc.

Qualifications:

  • In depth financial modeling experience, must live and breathe excel.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, must be comfortable creating reports and presenting to partners, investors, and senior management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic planning, deal analysis, business development or investment banking in film and/or television.
  • BS/BA degree, MBA preferred
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and see all of them through completion.
  • Keen understanding of the ever-changing media landscape.
  • Prior investment banking and/or management consulting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of film and television resources including online resources (Box Office Mojo, Rentrak) and networking with other film finance executives.
