THE ROLE

Localcoin seeks to inspire the future of digital currency globally as the largest bitcoin ATM network in Canada. We rely on powerfully insightful data to inform our systems and solutions and we’re seeking an experienced Data Engineer to put it to use.

Reporting directly to our IT Director, our ideal person will have the mathematical and statistical expertise you’d expect, combined with a rare curiosity and creativity. You’ll wear many hats in this role, but much of your focus will be building out our data integration, warehouse and visualization solutions such as stitch, snowflake and Power BI, to achieve data reporting and analysis goals.

Beyond technical prowess, you’ll need the soft skills it takes to communicate highly complex data trends to organizational leaders in a way that’s easy to understand. We’re looking for someone willing to jump right in to help the company get the most out of our data.

YOUR IMPACT

• Collaborate with the Analytics Engineering Manager to select the best cloud tools and platforms to implement quick, clean and easy data-pipelines for data analysis and reporting the tools and platforms you will be evaluating are, but not limited to:
• Data integration: Stitch
• Data warehousing: Snowflake, Redshift and Google BigQuery
• Data build: Dbt
• Visualization: Power BI, Tableau, Looker or Redash
• Collaborate with the Analytics Engineering team members and business stakeholders to determine data requirements, transformations and modeling to fulfill data-driven business decision needs
• Manage, optimize and monitor data pipelines and infrastructure to keep the data flow consistent and reliable across the company
• Support the development and improvements of data standards, processes and reporting to meet business goals
• Address data queries and issues in a timely fashion with SQL and non-SQL solutions
• Create and maintain documentation for all data processes.
• Create data modelts as requested for analytics and reporting purposes

THIS IS YOU

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent
• 3 or more years of experience building and maintaining data-pipelines including data acquisition, cleaning, fact-dimension modeling and visualization
• 3 or more years of experience with

• Data Integration tools (Informatica, Luigi, Stitch, Fivetran)
• Data warehousing tools ( Azure, Teradata,Redshift, Bigquery, Snowflake)
• Strong expertise on SQL language & related tools, and and Python ETL programming

• Excellent communication skills,
• Ability to disseminate technical concepts to non-technical business leaders
• Can integrate in a dynamic environment with a fast-paced team
• Effectively work on simultaneous projects

THIS IS NICE

• Experience building reports and dashboards using Google Data Studio, PowerBI, Tableau or MicroStrategy
• Intermediate experience with Dbt and Git flow
• Education related degree on Data Analytics or Data Science field with Machine Learning emphasis
• Data Analytics certifications
