About the role
We have just incorporated a Portuguese Development Company (“small entity”) and are seeking a lead on all reporting requirements to join our Lisbon team as an Accounting Manager (in CeFI “Centralized Finance”).
You, the Accounting Manager will be in charge of the day-to-day accounting, including invoicing and liaising with external parties to support on all reporting obligations.
You’ll be working with us in the heart of Lisbon, overlooking the Tejo River - where we co-run our beautiful co-working space called LisNode together with other leading blockchain projects.
What you’ll do
- You are responsible for running day-to-day accounting operations supported by external accountants
- You will facilitate the submission of the annual financial accounts /statements
- You will assist with the tax reporting (draft CIT, return, WHT, VAT returns)
- Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Management (national and international payment transactions, cash management and treasury)
- Maintain accounts and balances by verifying, allocating, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
- Manage tax audits and liaise with tax authorities
- Drafting accounting policies for crypto transactions (and accounting for digital asset transactions)
- Manage external relationships with auditors, tax advisers, legal counsels, tax authorities, customers and vendors
- Manage Budgeting, Planning, and Controlling processes as well as prepare relevant reports for the Management Team
- Possibly, but not required: Manage payroll in partnership with the HR team
Who you are
- You have 4+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance (a plus: in a startup environment)
- You have an excellent command of English and Portuguese
- You have a degree in Accounting or Finance or similar certificate
- You have very good knowledge of SNC (Portuguese GAAP); Portuguese chartered accountant preferred
- You have experience with any certified software for accounting and taxes in Portugal (such as Primavera)
- You have experience in working with financial authorities and external auditors/accounting firms
- You are interested in blockchain technology and ideally already have hands-on crypto experience (you might know appropriate tooling such as cryptio or request network)
- A plus: you have up-to-date knowledge of wage tax and social security law, and as well as basic knowledge of labor law
- You have excellent organizational and management skills with an ability to think proactively
- You have excellent MS Excel skills
- You pay attention to details and deliver accurate work while multitasking and manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing work
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- You have strong interpersonal skills
