We are hiring a highly experienced and motivated Compliance Director to oversee and manage our U.S. and Canada Exchange product. As a key leader within the second line of defense, you will be responsible for the Exchange product in the U.S. and Canada. This is a highly visible role with valuable and meaningful work.
You will realign our compliance policies, procedures, and operations to align with our business partners strategies priorities, helping put Cryptocurrency in Every WalletTM while protecting the brand.
We want someone with a demonstrated history of successfully owning and managing large, complex program areas and engaging with cross-functional teams, numerous stakeholders, directly and through influence. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with cryptocurrency compliance programs in large scale financial services, including leveraging technological solutions to solving compliance issues.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the subject matter expert on cryptocurrency exchange compliance
- Ensure that retail and institutional customer onboarding is fully compliant with state and federal Money Services Business regulations, including preparation for upcoming cryptocurrency legislation
- Develop strategic partnerships with business, operations, and product colleagues
- Make decisions and provide critical analyses on issues that have significant customer impact and company exposure when interpreting federal and state laws, including AML and consumer protection, collaborating with appropriate internal and external stakeholders as needed
- Develop, manage, and report essential KPIs and KRIs to the busines and Compliance Officer; act as a key stakeholder to meet or exceed performance benchmarks for compliance
- Ensure prompt responses to identified risks, implementation of correction action plans, and ensure standards
- Respond to regulatory inquiries, as needed
- Assist in state audits
- Participate in sales activities, including RFP responses and client presentations
- Maintain and lead internal and external CAPA efforts to timely resolution
- Work with leadership and executives to resolve issues and build new processes
- Report compliance initiatives and project to the Compliance oversight committees and/or the Board
- Maintain expert knowledge of blockchain and cryptocurrency exchange products
- Support the business and operations teams to improve the customer experience while maintaining a best-in-class compliance onboarding process
- Manage a team of individuals; lead and mentor staff to better the team’s upward potential – pay it forward!
- 10+ years of previous relevant experience in AML compliance at a large financial institution, bank, consulting firm, or Fintech
- Strong knowledge of US federal, state and local laws and regulations, including the BSA, PCMLTFA, and OFAC regulations
- Strong compliance instincts and risk mitigation mindset
- Strong decision making, analytical and investigative abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and project management expertise and ability to effectively present information to management, including members of the Board of Directors
- Knowledge of onboarding flows and related cryptocurrency exchange products
- Interest in cryptocurrencies and digital assets
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
