YOUR ROLE

The Compliance Senior Manager will report to the CCO and be responsible to execute effective administration of compliance activities within the Compliance team, supporting the business and growth plans at Localcoin. You will work closely with the CCO and the entire compliance team, being tasked with oversight and execution of strategic objectives and goals of the compliance department, including detailed project coordination and tracking of compliance initiatives against Compliance Road Maps.

The Compliance Senior Manager will be a key contributor and activity participant with respect to program design, methodology and processes to ensure relevant regulatory requirements are adhered to, by taking into consideration risk elements from a product/service perspective. This includes collaborating with company stakeholders, external business partners, regulators and auditors, to ensure compliance responsibilities are met on an ongoing basis.

This position will report directly to our Chief Compliance Officer and will be based out of our head office in Toronto, Ontario.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Supports each business and product/service unit with respect to regulatory obligations. Acts as a subject matter expert in the evaluation, development and implementation of internal controls applicable to regulations specific to Localcoin’s business
  • Collaborate with the business to perform Risk Assessment and Self-Assessment activities, on an on-going basis.
  • Participate in committees as required (e.g. Product Committee, New Product Initiatives Planning [NIAP]) and process implementation.
  • Contribute and prepare regulatory reporting for escalation as required.
  • Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to break down regulatory challenges and analyse data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Gather performance metrics with respect to daily duties, including KYC, screening, monitoring, and executive reporting for the CCO to prepare executive oversight reports on a determined basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually).
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of the business/group strategies and objectives, products and services, internal and external stakeholders and business processes.
  • Recommends adjustments to the overall program, policy or processes within the business/group in accordance with the Compliance Risk Appetite.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures, which includes updating and obtaining approvals as regulations or the operations change, as required
  • Provides support to the development and delivery of training and awareness programs within the business to increase awareness of and compliance with requirements.
  • Supports the business/group through internal/external audits or regulatory examinations and assists in the design, development, and tracking of action plans to resolve any identified issues.
  • Oversee program-related management using systems such as Lattice, JIRA, vendor management and invoicing software, project management and regulatory tracking software.
  • Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
  • Has a strong grasp of technological tools and manual tools for the oversight of compliance processes, and comfortable evaluating/testing and using new technology for the same purposes.
  • Review and analyze relevant financial services industry legislation/regulations and maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of Canadian, US and other international regulations on money laundering, terrorist financing, and sanctions in cryptocurrency.

THIS IS YOU

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • 2-3 years of experience managing a team of direct reports
  • Familiarity with technology tools, including use of and evaluation of new tools
  • Self-starter, learning-motivated
  • Investigative mindset with ability to analyze
  • Analytical skills

THIS IS NICE TO HAVE

  • Relevant experience in cryptocurrency. FinTech, financial industries, and/or startups
