Wachsman is seeking a Deputy Managing Director for immediate hire at its Asia Headquarters in Singapore. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Deputy Managing Director will be responsible for:

  • running a fast-paced agency
  • delivering hyper growth
  • maintaining and growing quality and standards
  • overseeing and providing excellent client counsel and advisory
  • training, mentoring and supporting team members at all levels in executing their roles effectively

Attributes:

  • Able to immediately step in for the Managing Director from the get go with little to no onboarding from a technical (PR strategy) and content (blockchain and crypto) perspective
  • Ready to lead a high-performing team with high expectations of their leadership, understanding how to assemble and lead an integrated/blended teams
  • Able to single handedly lead and manage issues and crises, coordinating between clients, teams, media and other key stakeholders
  • Able to drive and lead big pitches as ‘new business gurus’ as well as organically growing existing client accounts
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to industry, agency, and clients by mastering industry knowledge and understanding clients’ businesses
  • Is an experienced expert who is able to draw from personal experience/expertise to set direction for clients and teams
  • Has a proven track record for retaining and growing clients by building strong, long-term relationships and is recommended by clients to others within their organisation and outside
  • Possesses very strong leadership skills; leading by example and building strong relationships with all stakeholders, including colleagues, clients, and other external partners as well as a global team
  • Embodies progressive people development, restless thinking, valuing both strategic and creative thinking and supporting knowledge sharing
  • Demonstrates strong commercial acumen, provides reliable income planning/forecasting and is a good negotiator

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience providing strategic communications and/or corporate affairs consultancy at a credentialed agency/consultancy, preferably with crypto/regulatory exposure and experience and at least three years as a Director
  • Keen understanding of tech, finance and public policy pertaining to both in particular
  • Excellent knowledge of media and political landscape in Singapore and across Asia Pacific; international experience is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Translate clients’ business needs into communications actions with a solution-oriented focus; be a trusted adviser to C -suite level, providing new thinking/strategic insight to clients and across the consultancy
  • Is able to align reputation strategy into business strategy and advice on high stakes moments, integrating reputation into risk decision making and reporting.
  • Provide counsel and strategy for branding, reputation management, and crisis communications; well-versed in the principles of global media relations.
  • Manage and respond to challenging, technical inquiries from clients, new business, and external organizations, in an effective manner
  • Proactively develop new ways to take our offer into the market and support teams to do likewise
  • Grow the business development through identifying both new business opportunities and opportunities within existing accounts, driving lead generation through active networking and leading new business pitches with winning approaches
  • Develop proprietary frameworks and IP; have delivered big pieces of strategic thinking in a high stakes environment with significant, measurable outcomes
  • Travel to and represent the agency at industry events and significant meetings with clients, acting as an ambassador internally and externally for our differentiated positioning
  • Build meaningful and sustainable relationships with relevant intermediaries (e.g. banks, law firms) and key media to enhance the consultancy’s reputation
  • Attract and retain the best talent and supports progressive talent management; train, mentor, and support team members of all levels in executing effectively, providing on-going feedback to teams/individuals to enhance learning and set high standards for the overall performance of the agency
