Aptos (Ohlone for "The People") encompasses our mission and ethos for why we build.Position Overview The Head of Growth (Decibel) is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving user acquisition, liquidity growth, and total value locked (TVL) through dynamic growth strategies, viral community campaigns, and product-led experiments. This individual will own the end-to-end growth funnel—from guerrilla marketing to token incentives—while leveraging Twitter and Discord as primary engagement channels. The ideal candidate is a creative, analytical, and execution-focused leader with deep expertise in crypto-native growth tactics, community building, and funnel optimization. Key Goals & Responsibilities Foundational Growth Strategy Development
Define and own the end-to-end go-to-market (GTM) strategy for user acquisition, liquidity growth and TVL Own user conversion, user signup, referrals, guerrilla growth campaigns. Own product feedback from users. Work with product and marketing teams to optimise lead generation, activation funnel, CTR. Primary goal is increasing the number of leads + number of user activations. Conduct market research to identify target user personas: retail traders, crypto-native whales, trading communities, etc.
User Acquisition & Funnel Building (Pre-Traction)
Conduct comprehensive user feedback sessions to understand
What are the user painpoints What are the best features that user enjoy from our competitiors Test our product unique selling point appeal to the target user Checking the communities of competitors to find what are the most mentioned painpoints and feature requests from our competitors communities
Coming up with creative guerrilla campaigns to test our product thesis Design and run experiments to attract early adopters — e.g. referral invite codes, in person events, raiding other competitors communities. Collaborate with product to design and implement effective onboarding and referral flows. Set up metrics infrastructure and KPIs to track awareness, activation, and retention from day one. Set up alerts to easily see where users are dropping off in the conversion funnel Ideate launch strategy to attract our day 1 target user Build AI pipelines to collect relevant market trends, market sentiment, content trends, and our competitor trends. Also, scrapping for features that users love from our competitors and pain points that users are facing from our competitors. Prepare AI pipelines for lead gen, user activation, user re-activation Implement advanced AI-driven personalization tools to create tailored experiences and promotions, increasing user lifetime value and loyalty. Product hunt launch Establish tight learning cycles to collect user feedback, and get them into the product features Ideate how to build network effects into the user experience and product Create clear workflows to showcase momentum of new features and progress of our roadmap to external public facing sources (twitter, linkedin, farcaster etc.)
Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
Identify and build relationships with strategic influencer and content partners to further drive user referral growth Work with and manage external agencies for content creation to manufacture social proof and, perception of the wealth effect for the exchange.
Product-Led Growth Tactics
Help design incentive structures like token rewards, airdrop campaigns, trading incentives, etc. Work closely with engineering/product to iterate on features that drive organic growth—e.g., copy trading, trading leagues, mobile trading, fee rebates.
Marketing & Community Activation
Build the content and narrative engine across Twitter, Telegram, Discord, Farcaster, and DeFi-focused forums. Launch ambassador or early adopter programs to incentivize community-led growth. Work with design/content to produce explainers, trader tutorials, and competitive benchmarks vs. other DEXs (e.g., GMX, Hyperliquid).
Analytics & Feedback Loop
Set up and maintain dashboards to measure user activity, growth funnel drop-off, trading behavior, and campaign performance. Use data to identify bottlenecks, refine campaigns, and double down on what works.
Token Growth Strategy & Airdrop Execution
Spearhead the growth narrative around the native token: utility, incentive alignment, and ecosystem contribution. Design and launch an Aptos-native airdrop campaign that reflects high-signal engagement like testnet volume, referrals, feedback contributions; wallet age and activity on Aptos mainnet; community engagement via Farcaster, Discord, or GitHub (open-source contribution). Plan the airdrop campaign in phases:
Testnet contributor recognition Mainnet launch teaser (airdrop eligibility reveal) Airdrop + token-go-live with trading incentives
Work with product/eng to create post-airdrop systems (e.g., staking, fee discounts, governance roles) to maintain token utility and drive recurring engagement.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Serve as the bridge between product, engineering, design, and leadership to ensure growth goals are aligned across all efforts. Inform tokenomics and emissions design with a growth-first mindset.
Personality & Skills
Twitter-native & Discord-savvy: Understands how to build hype and engagement. Creative hustler: Loves testing bold, unconventional growth tactics. Data-obsessed: Relentlessly optimizes based on metrics. Community-driven: Knows how to activate crypto audiences.
Background & Experience
5+ years in growth leadership, preferably in crypto exchanges, DeFi protocols, or fintech. Proven track record in scaling user bases via:
Twitter/X and Discord-led growth. Airdrops & incentive design. Community-driven growth.
Strong analytical skills: SQL, Mixpanel/Amplitude, funnel optimization. AI/automation experience: scraping, sentiment analysis, personalized marketing. Our Benefits
