About the role

The Mesh seeks a Lead Writer with 5+ years of experience in a related role to lead content and thought leadership strategy both internally and externally. This role is an opportunity to help build the Mesh's voice and drive market authority from the ground up via content and communication. This role will work in partnership with the Head of Marketing & Brand along with each of our operating units and bespoke brands. From a priority perspective the majority of work will cover 3 main areas:

• Working with the Office of CEO, Joe Lubin, on both internal and public-facing communications
• Defining and developing a content strategy encompassing all Mesh affiliates
• Collaborating with the R&D team to drive thought leadership and awareness of their initiatives

This role will work directly with the Office of the CEO and will collaborate closely with our sister organization, ConsenSys’ marketing team, executive leadership, and multiple cross-functional business units to strengthen and drive a cohesive brand voice.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in defining and developing a strong brand voice and producing exceptional written content in the blockchain space. They will be able to translate technically complex topics and ideas into something that is easily digestible. Additionally, the candidate will have experience steeped in successful partnerships with high-profile entrepreneurs. The candidate should be known for their excellent writing skills and have knowledge of and passion for Web3 and blockchain technology.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop Mesh and Mesh affiliate brand voices in partnership with Marketing team and Mesh Management team
• 25% of role will consist of contributing to the CEO’s speech writing, briefing memos, social media handles, media library, internal comms (company wide memos and town halls)
• Partner with Mesh management team on creation of all internal and external communications
• Stay ahead of industry news and trends, collaboratively editing and developing compelling content and thought leadership strategies
• Partner with Head of Marketing on audience development and digital content strategy, including implementation and optimization
• Originate and advocate content strategy methods, recommendations, and thought leadership Mesh-wide

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

• 5+ years professional writing experience in PR, marketing, digital publications, print, and/or TV
• Understanding and passion for blockchain / Ethereum
• A highly developed conceptual understanding of copy, voice, and communications, along with how each of those elements foundationally drive enterprise value, community, and brand equity
• Ability to write and edit exceptionally clear, compelling, and persuasive copy for all channels – particularly digital - with a focus on headlines, technical concepts, and call-to-action
• Proven record of staffing and developing a team of writers
• Strong proofreading, editing, and fact-checking skills with 100% accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work within a high-energy, fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must
• Motivated, proactive, self-starter with positive attitude and ability to easily adapt to changing priorities and directions

Bonus Points for:

• Experience in technology, computer programming, or previous work on open source projects (including volunteer work)
• Experience working with C-suite executives, either in publishing or as a speechwriter/ghostwriter
• Developer community experience and/or evangelism
