Genies is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its growing Finance & Accounting team. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations and monthly and year-end reporting. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for recording transactions at the sub-ledger level, preparing journal entries, building monthly reports, tracking of budget to actual expenses, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the recording of transactions on the accounting books.
What You’ll be Doing:
- Actively involved in the monthly close process including preparation and booking of journal entries as well as preparation of reports and analysis.
- Recording detailed transactions at the sub-ledger level, ensuring proper coding and recording of transactions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of scalable accounting processes to facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Performing month-end reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and maintaining supporting schedules for various entities and accounts.
- Preparing and analyzing the monthly cash expenditures.
- Preparing and analyzing monthly fluctuations in account balances.
- Documenting key accounting processes and performing related accounting operation controls.
- Participating in critical accounting projects, including the implementation of new system logic or enhancements, and supporting new product launches.
- Assisting on drafting technical memos and analyzing complex accounting transactions.
- Supporting the scaling up efforts of the accounting function.
What You Should Have:
- Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Accounting, Business or Business Economics.
- 3-5 year work experience in public accounting and industry. Technology industry experience preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant.
- Experience with general ledger functions, month-end/year-end close process, and operational accounting (A/P, A/R, etc).
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), specifically in the areas of revenue recognition, stock compensation and software capitalization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and exceptional drive, precision, and attention to detail.
- Excellent time and self-management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong relationship building skills and abilities.
- Experience working with Quickbooks and have familiarity performing a migration from Quickbooks to an ERP system.
- Competence in Microsoft excel and word.
