Chainlink Labs is hiring a Web3 Senior Manager, Quantitative Market Data
Compensation: $36k - $99k estimated
Location: New York United States
About Us
Chainlink Labs is the primary contributing developer of Chainlink, the decentralized computing platform powering the verifiable web. Chainlink is the industry-standard platform for providing access to real-world data, offchain computation, and secure cross-chain interoperability across any blockchain. Chainlink Labs helps power verifiable applications for banking, DeFi, global trade, and gaming by collaborating with some of the world’s largest financial institutions, notably Swift, DTCC, and ANZ. Chainlink Labs also works with top Web3 teams, including Aave, Compound, GMX, Maker, and Synthetix. Chainlink Labs was ranked as one of the Global Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces by Newsweek 2025.
About the Team
This team sits at the heart of Chainlink’s Data business, ensuring every price our network delivers is accurate, reliable, and timely. The group focuses on:
Quantitative researchers & engineers who design and back-test benchmarks and pricing methodologies
Data quality engineers/managers who build normalization, validation, and anomaly-detection pipelines with clear SLOs
Risk Operations analysts who monitor real-time data quality and drive incident response
The team partners closely with Product, Engineering, and Node Operators to deliver best-in-class data products across hundreds of on-chain markets.
About the Role
We are searching for an experienced Senior Manager to lead the Market Data Quality & Benchmarks organization. You will own the production data quality, benchmarking standards, and cost/performance profile of Chainlink’s market-data products. You will be defining strategy, shipping microstructure-aware pricing methodologies, and scaling operational excellence across crypto, FX, and RWA markets on chain. This role blends financial engineering, quantitative research, real-time data-risk management, and hands-on leadership of engineering-heavy workflows.
Your Impact
Define data-quality & benchmark strategy: set vision, KPIs, and roadmaps for price feeds and streams, including explicit data-quality SLOs (latency, coverage, staleness, accuracy).
Champion benchmark & pricing research: guide quants in designing, stress-testing, and deploying benchmarks (e.g., VWAP/TWAP/mid, NBBO proxies, dislocation detectors) and pricing methodologies for multiple asset classes.
Own real-time data risk: establish risk tolerances, oversee 24/7 monitoring infrastructure; drive playbooks for crossed/locked markets, stale ticks, and cross-venue reconciliation for the largest value-securing oracle network in blockchain.
Optimize cost/performance: design efficient ingestion/normalization architectures and provider configurations; reduce compute/network/storage spend while expanding coverage (partner with Procurement/BD where needed).
Scale high-performing teams: recruit, coach, and develop quants, data-quality engineers/managers, and Data Scientists; foster a culture of experimentation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Drive cross-functional alignment: partner with Engineering, Product, Finance, and Legal to launch new data products and embed data-contract rigor and risk-aware practices company-wide.
Represent Chainlink externally: engage with leading exchanges, data vendors, and DeFi protocols to advance industry standards for on-chain market-data quality and benchmarking.
Requirements
10+ years in financial engineering, quantitative research, or market-data product leadership, with ≥4 years managing multi-disciplinary teams.
Deep knowledge of market-data infrastructure, market microstructure, asset-pricing/benchmark design, and real-time trading data across traditional and crypto markets.
Proven track record shipping production-grade pricing, benchmarking, or data-risk systems used in live trading, clearing, or DeFi.
Expert-level proficiency in Python (or similar), SQL, and statistical analysis; comfortable diving into code, benchmark logic, and model reviews.
Demonstrated success partnering with Tier-1 data vendors/exchanges on technical integrations; ability to influence commercial decisions with data.
Strong operational rigor—experience running 24/7 or follow-the-sun data-risk or trading-ops programs with clear SLOs and incident management.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills; able to translate quantitative insights and SLO trade-offs into clear decisions for executives, engineers, and external partners.
Passion for blockchain, DeFi, and verifiable computation.
Preferred Requirements
Experience leading teams that span quantitative research, data-quality engineering, and trade-ops/risk under one roof.
Familiarity with node-operator ecosystems, oracle design patterns, or Web3 infrastructure primitives.
Prior ownership of data-quality SLOs, error budgets, and cost/performance levers for market-data systems; experience informing procurement with utilization/coverage data.Publications or open-source contributions in market microstructure, pricing/benchmarks, or data-quality/reliability tooling.
-
Experience scaling remote-first organizations and instituting data-contract governance (schemas, versioning, deprecation) across multiple teams.
Nice to have technical depth
Exchange feed formats & recovery sequence/dup handling, and event-time processing.
Time synchronization & timestamping and cross-venue consolidation to avoid false dislocations.
Stream processing & storage (e.g., Kafka, Flink/Spark Structured Streaming, Arrow/Parquet, time-series databases).
