We are seeking an experienced Lead Performance Engineer to help build software for scale and stability and to formalize this function across all of RippleX’s programs. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the best engineers in the cryptocurrency space across the XRP Ledger community. You will design and implement performance tooling for the Ledger and other projects, with a view to open-sourcing the tools and frameworks you build. You will also play a big role in implementing capacity testing and performance analysis strategies. You have experience building out a strong performance engineering function and know what it looks like when done well.
An ideal candidate is eager to become an expert in the cryptocurrency landscape. He/she understands how blockchain developers and companies think and operate, and is willing to look beyond what already exists in the market to serve its evolving needs. An ideal candidate excels at solving complex problems and rapidly formulating a clear perspective from ambiguity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & implement performance strategies and tooling across a range of software projects.
- Contribute performance tooling to the broader, XRPL developer community.
- Improve the performance and efficiency of the publicly available XRP Ledger infrastructure operated by the RippleX team.
- Promoting performance engineering across internal teams and the broader XRPL community.
Who We’re Looking For:
- 10+ years experience of performance engineering, building large scale, distributed systems.
- Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis
- 5+ years of experience as a distributed systems developer in programming languages such as Java, C++, Rust, Golang.
- Understanding of NoSQL and SQL databases as it relates to query and system performance and tuning.
- Experience with asynchronous programming. (i.e. futures, promises, async/await syntax, etc.) and/or experience with low level concurrency. (i.e. threads, mutexes, condition_variables, etc.)
- You are excited about blockchains: the technical details and the benefits

- Experience working with decentralized blockchains and other crypto technologies
- Experience working with open source software and associated developer communities
