Web3 Tax Director

Paradigm is a San Francisco-based investment firm focused on crypto and blockchain-related technologies across the globe.  We are a registered investment adviser with the SEC and make investments in companies and protocols at all stages, ranging from early-stage venture financing rounds to growth equity to liquid token assets.  Paradigm was co-founded in 2018 by Matt Huang (former Partner at Sequoia Capital) and Fred Ehrsam (Co-founder of Coinbase), and since then we’ve been hard at work building a world-class team to support our portfolio of 30+ companies and the crypto ecosystem globally, with the broader goal of accelerating crypto’s ability to improve people’s lives worldwide.

It's an unusual time to work in crypto. The widespread adoption of blockchains - tools that can serve as decentralized, distributed mechanisms to store value - is going to have an impact far beyond today’s focus on new assets like Bitcoin.

The global tax environment for crypto is rapidly taking shape, and regulators have already proven that certainty and clear guidance is not likely to come in the near future.  It’s critical that both Paradigm and the companies in our portfolio can explore and thrive in an unknown environment, while still maintaining confidence that they’re operating within the law and ensuring tax optimization.  Given that, we’re looking for a farsighted leader who can define and execute on a strategy to construct tax thought leadership, policies and procedures that allow crypto to thrive worldwide.

We believe this person will ultimately become a world-class authority on crypto tax issues surrounding blockchain technology and decentralized finance.  This person will ideally have an extensive history of high performance in tax and regulatory arenas related to traditional finance and technology, but they’ll also be creative and adaptable enough to define an approach to tax compliance, optimization and thought leadership for an industry that’s just begun its explosion in growth.
