Web3 Technical Accounting Manager

Compensation: $22k - $75k estimated

Ripple is seeking a motivated leader with a drive to operate in a dynamic and collaborative environment. As the Manager of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting, you will be a key contributor in addressing challenging technical accounting issues while owning the external and internal financial reporting process. You will interface with both members of the finance team and other cross-functional teams to understand the various partnerships, investments and digital assets transactions that Ripple engages in. This role will also drive documentation across the finance organization, including drafting accounting memos for material transactions, and building out robust process and control documentation for all key finance areas.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in technical accounting and financial reporting, excellent attention to detail, and an ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to various stakeholders. Another key ingredient to success for this role is to have a genuine interest to learn more about the blockchain industry and the digital asset ecosystem.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to break down technical issues, research and identify applicable accounting guidance, propose solutions and introduce process improvements
  • Interact with cross-functional teams within Ripple as a subject matter expert to identify financial risks associated with new or contemplated transactions and resolve complex accounting issues
  • Perform research into accounting for arrangements and transactions involving digital assets (including XRP), or other contractual arrangements unique to the crypto industry
  • Stay abreast of technical accounting developments pertaining Ripple and the crypto industry
  • Organize and maintain the accounting policy and memo repository
  • Own internal and external reporting processes including the preparation of supporting schedules and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP (and IFRS when applicable)
  • Own the internal controls over financial reporting process maintaining control narratives and proposing solutions for identified segregation of duties and control gaps
  • Interface with external auditors to facilitate the timely completion of various audits with an emphasis on complex transactions and the financial reporting process

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 6+ years relevant work experience with undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • Prior experience in technical accounting & reporting role, preferably in a public company setting
  • Big 4 audit or advisory experience, with a CPA is preferred
  • Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to address a wide variety of technical accounting issues
  • Experience with SEC reporting requirements and public company readiness initiatives
  • Prior experience with risk assessment and control documentation
  • Strong work ethic and ability to be productive and successful in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail with ability to identify issues and propose solutions to complex or non-standard situations
