GSR is looking for a Payroll Manager to join the HR team on a Fixed Term Contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a small team whilst processing payrolls across a variety of international office locations. We are looking for someone who has seen different approaches to payroll processing, and who therefore has the experience and ability to identify and implement efficiencies and improvements across the function. We have active payrolls in the UK, US, Spain, Switzerland and Singapore and whilst there is an opportunity to delegate tasks to the payroll advisor, this is very much a doing role and not an overseeing position.

Responsibilities

    • Own the relationship and work directly with our Payroll provider to ensure the accurate processing of the end-to-end payroll for all employees across all locations in the organization - UK, US, Singapore, Switzerland and Spain. Experience in all locations is not a requirement, training will be provided.
    • Liaise with HR on an  ongoing basis to prepare reports for relevant departments regarding payroll, GL and expenses, etc
    • Review, analyse and verify payroll reports each month for accuracy; requesting the necessary adjustments and corrections to the payroll provider in a timely manner
    • Ensure events through the employee lifecycle are processed correctly, including starters, leavers and internal moves are processed correctly, and have the ability to calculate backpay
    • Calculate correct employee pay by considering hours worked, overtime rates, taxes, social pay deductions and other factors
    • Understand the company’s annual leave, sick leave, and family leave policies in order to make the process accurate payments
    • Liaise with internal Finance teams to process the back end cycle of the payroll, including any cash moves, cheque processing and electronic employee payments depending on the business using company Bank accounts
    • Answering employee questions about their payslips, and address/resolve any employee complaints relating to payroll
    • Be able to initiate and support throughout the year end activities to close payrolls.

Requirements

    • You will be a disciplined self-starter with a high degree of motivation, analytical rigour and attention to detail.
    • A passion for communication and critical thinking
    • Demonstrable experience managing a payroll team
    • Proven commercial experience in a similar role within Financial Services or Multinational organisation
    • Deep knowledge of UK and US payrolls, and experience across other international payrolls would be very helpful
    • Self starter with the ability to work proactively, often autonomously, prioritising multiple tasksExpert using Excel / Google Sheets and other MS office / GSuite applications
    • Good to have an understanding of Confluence and Jira usability 
    • Good to have knowledge of HiBob and Cloudpay
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal working in a multicultural and international office
    • Excellent people management skills with experience balancing a busy workload with management responsibility
    • Fluent in written and spoken English
