THE WORK:
Ripple is seeking a Senior Policy Director, US to lead Ripple’s Federal and State policy engagement efforts in the United States. Ripple’s Public Policy team seeks to advance the company’s strategic goals by proactively managing the company’s relationships with government officials and advising on regulatory matters across a wide range of issues that affect Ripple’s business. The Senior Policy Director, US will be a key leader on this team. This person will work with internal partners throughout the business to help identify and define the company’s public policy objectives in the United States, and will develop and manage relationships with external stakeholders in order to further those objectives. This role reports to Ripple’s Vice President, Global Head of Public Policy and is located in Washington DC.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Create opportunities for Ripple to engage with regulators, legislators, policy makers, influencers and thought leaders in Washington DC and throughout the United States.
- Work with business partners to understand all aspects of Ripple’s business and its needs, as well as to advise on the impact of public policy developments on the business
- Monitor, analyze, and advance legislative and regulatory initiatives in the United States.
- Develop relationships with government stakeholders at the Federal and State level in the United States.
- Build a strong network of support among key external stakeholders to enhance advocacy efforts, including at trade associations, non government organizations and industry peers.
- Research issues of critical importance to the industry and take initiative to identify/implement engagement and response strategies with policy makers.
- Represent Ripple at public events.
- Manage external consultants and relationships with membership organizations.
- Integrate and lead an experienced and existing Policy Team in Washington, D.C.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- 15+ years of relevant public policy and advocacy experience, which includes acting as a senior government relations/policy expert for a global tech, emerging technology, enterprise software, payments or financial services company.
- Prior experience holding a relevant senior position in government supporting a senior elected official, a senior agency official and/or a senior regulator is highly valued.
- Congressional, agency and/or executive branch experience is also highly valued.
- Knowledge of policy issues related to digital assets and blockchain is ideal or knowledge of enterprise payments or enterprise software with the interest and ability to dive in and learn quickly about blockchain and crypto.
- Existing relationships with policy makers, legislators and regulators.
- Ability to think strategically, organizational capabilities, flexibility working within and across teams, effective problem-solving and conflict resolution, independent decision-making, and customer-centric.
- Ability to deliver timely, executive-caliber written and verbal communication to the Office of the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and other senior business partners across the company.
- Highly self-motivated work ethic; demonstrating sound judgment, trustworthiness, initiative, and an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
- Willingness and ability to, when needed, travel domestically and internationally.
