At Nume Crypto, we are disrupting the payments space. 1.3B people worldwide are neglected by traditional financial services and remain unbanked. Truly enabling the crypto payments usecase can unlock the biggest promise crypto is yet to realize: Being an equalizer. Anyone with an enabled phone has access to transact in the same global economy. Nume Crypto’s mission is to be the easiest, safest and cheapest payments gateway for cryptocurrency. We are building a near zero-cost payment gateway to process cryptocurrency payments.

Crypto payments as a usecase hasn’t found mass adoption yet. While we are in the very early stages of adoption, the disruptive potential of this usecase cannot be overstated. Imagine a world where you didn’t have to give over the reigns of your money to a bank or other intermediaries but held it yourself, where someone unbanked currently has access to the same global economy that you do due to being able to transact in crypto, where small businesses didn’t take a 3-5% cut on each of their transactions and have to wait for 14 days to get their money when cross-border.

Job description

We are looking for a seasoned product designer to join the team. The person in this role will work across Nume’s products, get to define new experiences as well as build foundational patterns that scales across the product line. The web3 space is dynamic, ambiguous and rapidly developing. Strong reasoning, hypothesis & success definition and good judgement are necessary skills. We are a small group of people building a future that the rest of the world will find itself needing - moving fast, investing efforts into our strongest hypothesis and launching and learning is core to our culture.

• A learner - You don’t need to currently live and breathe the crypto space (if you do thats great!), but you are excited to jump in. There is a lot of new information to take in and the space constantly evolves. And that excites you.
• Empathetic and Collaborative - You can see below the surface to understand human motivations. You have the ability to understand stakeholder needs, facilitate solution gathering and align the team around a common goal
• Customer obsessed - You have the ability to develop a keen pulse on customer needs to the point where your intuition is so strong that your assessments are usually proven right.
• Hustler - You value rapid experimentation and moving fast to get input to gear towards the right product experience.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in Product Design or can showcase equivalent experience through your portfolio.
• Experience shipping great products and iterating based on user feedback and metrics
• Excellent T-shaped designer with strong UX and visual design skills - You will own your work end-to-end (through various stages of ideation, design, launch and beyond)
• Experience developing design systems and reusable component libraries
• Strong grasp of research methodologies - you will drive research efforts to validate pivotal design decisions and exploratory research for new product ideas
• Ability to excellently articulate design decisions and influence by building a convincing case for your proposals
• Ability to work with the team to transform customer problems into ideas, explorations and validation.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, agile and quickly pivoting startup environment
• Values shipping and learning over getting to pixel perfection with the wrong solution
• Showcase experience in designing across platforms - iOS, Android, web - and strong grasp of device-specific best practices.

Who We Are

• Customer centricity and design thinking has been part of Nume’s fabric from Day 1. Niveda Harishankar, co-founder of Nume, was a UX designer at Amazon for 5 years across the Marketplace, Alexa and Kindle teams. She lead design for world’s first voice assistant integration between Amazon’s Alexa and Microsoft’s Cortana. For her work in Kindle taking a brand new feature from 0 to 1, Niveda received an Inventor award and has a patent to her name. The person in this role will be reporting to her.
• Nume’s other co-founder and CEO is Madhumitha Harishankar (yes they are sisters!). Madhumitha holds a PhD in incentive design in wireless networks (with focus on streaming crypto micropayments for data use) from Carnegie Mellon University and was a software engineer at Barclays and AWS before that.
• We are a small team (<10!) of highly motivated and talented engineers, designers and product leads. We are a super passionate, close-knit and driven group working tirelessly to make our audacious vision of driving mass adoption of crypto payments a reality.
• Our dev team is located in India while the founders split their time between India and New Jersey, USA.
