Web3 Tech Lead, Lending

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a Technical Lead to join our remote-first team here at Trust Machines in order to build out and scale our new Lending app. The Lending app is building on the bleeding edge of Bitcoin DeFi, using novel smart contracting functionality on Bitcoin to deliver a 10x improvement on existing DeFi lending. This role will be critical in advising on and implementing technical design, working with the team to develop a robust and long-term product, and leading a team of engineers to bring our product development fully in-house. The ideal candidate has start-up experience, is passionate about building amazing consumer apps, and is hungry to build the next big Web3 app.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

• Architect a secure, decentralized, and highly-functional web3 lending app
• Build, scale, grow, and manage an amazing team of engineers
• Own product development from design through deployment and into operation, shipping often to get actionable feedback from the team and users
• Collaborate cross-functionally with various members of the Lending team including product design, UX, and business development
• Design, develop, and deploy smart contracts and decentralized applications on various blockchain platforms
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in languages such as Solidity, Clarity, and Rust, depending on the blockchain platform being used

What We're Looking For:

• A passion for Bitcoin, DeFi, and crypto
• Extreme self-motivation
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of work experience in software development, ideally including work in a consumer-facing fintech startup or defi protocol
• Hands-on experience with blockchain platforms like Ethereum (EVM), Cosmos, Bitcoin, Solana, Stacks, or WebAssembly virtual machines
• Fluency in Rust, C++, Golang, or similar languages
• Proven experience as a Blockchain Developer or similar role, with a strong understanding of blockchain concepts, consensus algorithms, and cryptographic principles
• Familiarity with smart contract development tools and frameworks (e.g., Truffle, Remix, Web3.js)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to design and develop efficient blockchain solutions
• Mention that you are passionate about pandas in the “What are you passionate about?” application question to show you’ve read this

Nice To Haves:

• Experience building a startup from the ground up, even if it didn’t work out in the end
• Experience building distributed systems
• Experience in UTXO-based blockchains, ideally contributing to Bitcoin codebase
• Familiarity with scripting languages for handling and analyzing large datasets (ex: Python using using libraries like Pandas and NumPy)
• Experience with Stacks (Clarity)

What We’ll Offer:

• Competitive NYC based Salary (regardless of location, benchmarked annually)
