At first you will perform this work in a mostly manual workflow, which will gradually transition into a more modern and automated one. You will also contribute to the installation and maintenance of basic IT infrastructure including wireless access points, network switches, firewalls, and printers. Plus, you will have the opportunity to contribute your own ideas regarding the development and improvement of our IT procedures as our infrastructure and team grows and evolves.
Responsibilities
- You will provide laptops, smartphones, and IT user support to Finoa's staff.
- You will help install, maintain, and upgrade IT infrastructure including wireless access points, network switches, firewalls, and printers.
- You will help enforce staff compliance with our IT security policies.
- You will prioritise and triage unexpected help requests, and manage these along with longer-term projects and goals.
- You will independently troubleshoot and research solutions for novel IT problems.
- You will assist in developing and maintaining documentation of IT procedures and the solutions to problems that you fix.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or relevant IT work experience
- Experience provisioning laptops (Windows 10, MacOS, Linux), smartphones (iOS, Android), and performing basic hardware mods (RAM/SSD upgrades)
- Knowledge of and passion for IT security, such as cryptography (e.g. PGP, FDE) and best practices for protecting against common vulnerabilities
- Experience working with IT hardware such as wireless access points, network switches, firewalls, and printers
- Experience working from the Unix command line and with one or more programming languages such as Bash or Python
- Excellent troubleshooting skills - you can look at a problem from different angles and are not afraid to cautiously dig into the unknown
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, German language skills are also a plus
