Chainalysis is hiring a Web3 Cybercrimes Investigator/Data Science, Summer 2022 Internship

Chainalysists are equal parts technical knowledge, tenacity, and intuition. The Cryptocurrency Investigator/Data Scientist Intern will measure their success by their impact on our customer’s mission and their growth and development as cryptocurrency investigators and/or data scientists.
Collaborating with team members and across Chainalysis, interns will help support cryptocurrency investigations that meet and exceed customer requirements. Interns are equally adept at conducting research, employing data analysis, writing, and presenting investigative findings to team members. Interns will develop an expertise in using our tools and data to develop insights on illicit activity trends in crypto and its impact on our customers.

- Received the Chainalysis Cryptocurrency Fundamentals Certification and Reactor Certification and can expertly navigate open-source blockchain analytic tools.
- Provided investigative/data analysis support for sensitive investigations and initiatives pertaining to cryptocurrencies.
- Developed an understanding of varied investigations, including in DeFi and emerging blockchain technologies.
- Prepared in-depth summaries of data from extensive research and analysis to set forth recommendations for investigations, lead follow up, and potential risks that could hamper an investigation.
- Demonstrated an ability to present investigative conclusions to other investigators and Chainalysis leaders.
A background like this helps:
- Pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree with a graduation date between December 2022-June 2023
- Knowledge of and/or passion for blockchain/cryptocurrency technology
- Academic background in intelligence, criminal justice/investigations, cyber crime, blockchain/cryptocurrency technology, forensic accounting, and/or data analytics
- Experience with data analysis and with coding in Python and/or R
- Experience with Chainalysis investigative tools
- Ability to relocate to Washington, DC for the internship
