At Horizon, we’re building a new dimension where Internet economies are fun, accessible, and for the benefit of all participants.
We have three amazing products to make this real:
Sequence, the all-in-one developer platform + smart wallet that makes building web3 games and applications easy.
Skyweaver, a digital trading card game—powered by Sequence—where players can win, own, and trade their NFT/SFT game items.
Niftyswap, the decentralized marketplace—powered by Sequence—that makes trading semi-fungible tokens (SFTs) instant, easy, and secure.
Sequence is poised to drive web3 adoption on a massive scale by making blockchain easy, fun and powerful for users and developers. Skyweaver is a groundbreaking video game with an unprecedented player-owned economy, novel gameplay, and an already fervent community. And, Niftyswap is poised to become the premiere marketplace for trading SFTs, web3 game and metaverse items.
While the challenge is hard, we find it incredibly fun. And, we have the ingredients to make it happen: a well-capitalized company with some of the best investors in the world, including Brevan Howard Digital, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., Coinbase, Ubisoft, Polygon, Morgan Creek Digital, Initialized, BITKRAFT, DCG, and more; an amazing team of leaders in the web3 space; engineers who have built widely popular open source; a former top McKinsey strategy consultant; gaming industry veterans; and founders who have built and sold successful companies. You'll get to work with and learn from them all. Learn more at https://horizon.io/
The Role
As Director of Platform, you will be tasked with managing the engineering team focused on growing the Sequence developer platform. This growth includes planning and executing on developer tools, SDKs, developer documentation, and anything within the Sequence ecosystem from a tools and engineering perspective.
You will meet and build relationships with Sequence partners and potential developers. These conversations will help you understand Sequence within the broader market, and inform how the Sequence developer ecosystem should evolve to meet market needs.
Growth targets are hugely important as a top-line KPI, and your efforts around the Sequence ecosystem and developer growth will align with those targets. Concretely, you will be tasked with building an amazing team, and developing that talent, as you help the company hit its goals.
As expected of all leaders at Horizon, you will be asked to get into the weeds as needed, so a level of technical competency is crucial. This means participating in engineering design meetings, code reviews, and even writing code. Ultimately, intellectual curiosity will serve you well in this regard.
Responsibilities
- Define and plan an engineering roadmap that aligns with company and product strategy re: Sequence developer and ecosystem growth; KPI targets will be a part of that. Examples include work developing developer consoles, tutorials, documentation, and APIs
- Meet with integration partners, develop relationships with them, and learn the market needs as you build our developer tools and support for them.
- Work alongside our Chief Architect/CEO, Director of Product, and lead business developers on high-level planning as it relates to Sequence ecosystem growth
- Work hands-on with your team on architectural challenges
- Recruit, grow, and develop our roughly 10 Sequence engineers. You will work closely with your team in growing their careers, creating opportunities, and putting them on a path where people can do their best work. You will be supported in this effort by our people operations team.
- Provide continuous feedback. Through regular 1-1s, you will communicate and clarify goals and outcomes, uncover issues as they happen, and provide context. We believe timely feedback, candour, and kindness are essential.
