Experienced Web3 Front-End Engineer

Position Overview:

As a Web3 Frontend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing user interfaces, smart contracts, and systems for both our consumer facing applications and B2B tooling. You will collaborate closely with our cross-functional team to deliver seamless and intuitive user experiences on the Legitimate platform. Our team is very small and everyone makes an outsized impact in the company.

Our staff is currently spread between North America and Asia with a focus on Japan. This position is remote and meetings are regularly scheduled in the US and Japan time zones. Flexibility in meeting hours will be required and travel is also mandatory a few times a year for onboarding, in-person planning sessions, client support, and conferences.

For individuals who wish to work in person with our core team in Tokyo, a work visa may be available on a case by case basis. Salary range $120,000 - 200,000 USD with 0.5-1% equity. Salary will be adjusted for location, cost of living, and experience.

Responsibilities:

• User Interface Development: Design and implement user interfaces for decentralized applications, ensuring a responsive and visually appealing user experience.
• Web3 and Smart Contract Integration: Integrate smart contracts and blockchain functionality into the frontend and backend, providing both our business users and their customers with seamless on-chain transactions while abstracting the complexity of blockchain
• Decentralized Identity: Implement decentralized identity solutions to enhance user privacy and security.
• Cross-Browser Compatibility: Ensure compatibility across different browsers and devices to deliver a consistent user experience.
• User Feedback Integration: Collaborate with the design team to incorporate user feedback and continuously iterate on the user interface for optimal user satisfaction.
• Web3 Security: Implement best practices for secure frontend and backend development in the context of decentralized applications.
• Systems Architecture: Improve the speed, reliability, and usability of our Legitimate platform while minimizing cost and complexity. Balance decentralization and on-chain systems with conventional frontends and backends for optimal performance and scalability.
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Experience: Senior or staff level engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on frontend and solidity smart contracts.
• Technical Proficiency: Mastery in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and relevant experience with the React framework and related tooling. Experience with Node.js, Express, Ruby on Rails, and other backend frameworks is a plus.
• Blockchain Knowledge: Significant experience with blockchain technologies, smart contracts, and decentralized applications (DApps).
• Web3 Tools: Experience with Web3 libraries (e.g., Web3.js, ethers.js, Wagmi) and familiarity with blockchain wallet integrations such as WalletConnect.
• UI/UX: Understanding of user interface design principles and a strong eye for detail.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a fast-paced startup environment and quickly learn and apply new technologies.
• Collaboration: Strong collaboration and communication skills, comfortable working in a cross-functional team with tight deadlines.
  
  
  

Tech Stack:

• Our frontend applications use a mix of React and Next.js
• Our backend applications are built on a mix of Ruby on Rails and Node.js
• Our web3 usage consists of Solidity contracts running on EVM compatible chains such as Avalanche, Polygon, and Ethereum.
• Our NFC tag programming apps are built with Electron for Mac and Windows, and React Native for iOS.
