About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to take ownership of our Web2 backend systems running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You’ll join a rapidly growing DeFi protocol with a strong technical team and a focus on automation, reliability, and scalable secure architecture.

You’ll lead and mentor a small team of backend engineers while still being hands-on 60–70% of the time, helping design and build robust cloud-native systems, CI/CD pipelines, and core backend services that interact with blockchain components - Solana.

What You'll Be Doing

• Architect and build backend services and APIs, primarily in TypeScript, Go, or Python.

• Design scalable, secure systems using GCP-native services like Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Firestore, Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, Secret Manager, etc.

• Develop our DevOps and Cloud Strategy

• Build and evolve Terraform-based infrastructure as code to support backend, DevOps, and blockchain-integrated workflows.

• Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.

• Drive infrastructure reliability, observability, and automation.

• Collaborate with Web3 and smart contract teams to integrate on-chain and off-chain components.

• Lead and mentor junior engineers, provide code reviews, and elevate architectural discussions.

• Proactively identify issues, ask the right questions, and propose thoughtful, high-level and low-level design solutions.

• Help shape and evolve our DevOps and security posture, including deployment strategies, access control, and production readiness.

Who You Are

• 5+ years of backend and cloud engineering experience, with strong exposure to GCP or similar cloud platforms.

• Proficient in TypeScript/Node.js and either Go or Python.

• Deep knowledge of modern cloud-native architectures (e.g., event-driven, serverless, microservices).

• Experienced with DevOps tools: Terraform, GitHub Actions (or similar CI/CD).

• Proven experience delivering systems end-to-end - from design to deploy and operate.

• Able to move comfortably between high-level architectural design and hands-on engineering.

• A strong problem solver who thrives in ambiguous environments and can work independently with minimal oversight.

• Comfortable leading small teams or projects, while still actively writing production-grade code.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Haves

• Familiarity with Solana or other blockchain ecosystems.

• Interest in DeFi or prior experience in Web3 infrastructure.

• Contributions to open-source projects or published technical blogs.

Compensation

Part (1) Solstice Labs will offer competitive base (fiat or crypto) salaries relative to experience and market rates

Part (2) Team members will be incentivized with token allocations from the Solstice Foundation. Token structures will include a vesting schedule for all team members. Tokenomics to be shared directly with candidates.

Part (3) Team members will be further incentivized with a variable annual fiat/crypto bonus structure dependent on company performance.
