Web3 Lead Frontend Software Engineer

Compensation: $50k - $71k *

About the Position

The Software Engineering Organization at SALT is growing and has an opportunity for a Lead Frontend Software Engineer to join the team. The Lead Frontend Software Engineer will primarily be responsible for writing and maintaining code for a variety of services that directly interface with cryptocurrency blockchains and our end-users. You’ll get the chance to work on key areas of the system, such as blockchain monitoring, risk mitigation, transaction processing, and loan management. This position requires a motivated self-learner who can lead a small team focused on new feature development while also taking the initiative to expand the team’s knowledge base of cryptocurrency technologies and business opportunities.

This position will work remotely from anywhere in the U.S.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading complex technology initiatives focused on frontend
  • Providing mentorship to team members around technical solutions, performing code reviews, and establishing and enforcing coding guidelines and best practices.
  • Designing and developing performant, highly available, consumer-facing experiences using modern web technologies.
  • Partnering with UX to transform mock-ups into engaging, accessible web experiences
  • Articulating a long term vision for maintaining and scaling our frontend systems
  • Collaborating closely on agile teams of designers, developers, and product managers to build new features and applications
  • Writing automated tests and leveraging type checkers for maximal reliability
  • Researching and educating the team on new technologies and approaches
  • Consistently document development reasoning and procedures

What we are looking for:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 1+ years of project leadership experience
  • Expertise in JavaScript and experience building web applications with modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Experience building and maintaining scalable systems
  • Familiarity with client-side build processes & tools such as Gulp Grunt, Ember, etc
  • Ability to work and communicate in a remote environment
  • Interest in helping to develop less experienced team members
  • Respect for quality assurance and the ability to write robust integration and unit tests
  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management abilities
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Able to establish and maintain cooperative and positive working relationships
  • Organized, detail-oriented, diplomatic, analytical, proactive, self motivated, dependable, and driven by excellence
  • Even-tempered and able to balance multiple tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds

What we’d be thrilled with (nice-to-haves):

  • Familiarity with Go or TypeScript and the Express framework
  • Familiarity with with cloud hosting technology, especially AWS
  • Familiarity with cryptographic primitives like hashing and public-key cryptography
  • Basic understanding of Bitcoin and Ethereum: general concepts, scripting, smart contracts
