Web3 API/Microservices Engineer

Real Items is a leader in the quickly growing web3 space. We enable people to create and manage Phygitals in a multi-blockchain ecosystem. We're building a platform and a protocol which brings trust, transparency and value to the Phygital NFT space.

We are a group of crypto/web3 veterans who have experience in virtually every part of the crypto space. We believe that Phygitals are the next major step in the natural evolution of NFT technology.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our growing API/Microservices team. You will be responsible for collaborating with team members, helping to build new APIs, and supporting features for our ever growing UI teams. You will be creating backend solutions for new application features.

What you will be doing

• You'll brainstorm with Product Managers, Designers, Platform, and UI Engineers on your team to conceptualize and build new features for our growing user base of manufacturers, artists, builders and business people.
• You’ll produce high-quality results by contributing heavily to team projects that have a significant impact on the business.
• You’ll actively own team features and microservices and define their long-term health, while also improving the health of surrounding services.
• You’ll produce high-quality internal and external documentation.
• You'll assist our skilled support team and operations team in triaging and resolving production issues.
• You’ll improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.

What you should have

• You’ve been building scalable microservices professionally for 2+ years.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms / technologies such as AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.
• 4+ years software development experience specializing in backend, platform, or infrastructure development in Java, Node.js, Go, etc.
• Have designed and built web applications and possess expertise in related concepts like web services, SOA (GraphQL, REST) and API design.
• You have experience with imperative programming languages -- e.g., Java, Go, C.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• You can contribute to technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions within your team.
• Experience building API documentation portals and using API specification standards such as OpenAPI / Swagger.
• You write understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability.
• You are a strong communicator. Explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you.
• You have a bias for quality APIs, developer experience and clear documentation.
• You possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
• Have great ideas, and can run with them to produce great results.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of web3, cryptocurrency and blockchain.
• Experience using web3j, Hardhat/Truffle, Solidity, web3.js, web3j, ethers.js, GraphQL, IPFS.
• Experience with Raspberry Pi, QR Codes, NFC Tags, hand-held scanners, Bluetooth, Sensors, IOT.
• Experience using API Integration test suites such as SoapUI/ReadyAPI and Postman.
• Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent education/experience.
• Strong working knowledge in Docker and containerization.
• Strong database knowledge. Knows SQL and NoSQL as well as when to use each.
• Good knowledge of common algorithms, data structures and design patterns.
• Can take ambiguous requirements in complex domains and distill them down into actionable tasks
