The Opportunity/The Role
The Director of Sales & Business Development will play a central role in Chairman Peter Csathy's leading boutique media, entertainment and tech-focused business advisory and legal services firm. Creative Media works on the cutting edge and only with clients - and projects - that are innovative, exciting and potentially game-changing. Csathy curates each and every client and opportunity based on: (i) his passions in how tech is transforming the worlds of media and entertainment (some particular relevant areas of interest include AI, web3, film, television, music and media IP catalog sales and acquisitions, VR/AR, games); (ii) the client's reputation and positioning in the relevant sector (as well as the potential for new game-changing opportunities and impact); (iii) the global reach of the client and Creative Media's opportunity to expand the client's impact and influence; and (iv) the vision, reputation, integrity and personalities of the specific executives and entrepreneurs (and their investors). While this position is presently envisioned as being a part-time role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to transition to a full-time role based on her/his success (and that is the goal here).
Responsibilities
The Director of Sales & Business Development will work closely with Creative Media Chairman Peter Csathy to leverage Csathy's contacts and the candidate's contacts to identify new business advisory and/or legal services clients and strategic business opportunities and partnerships. The candidate will also attend and participate in relevant industry events - and participate in Creative Media marketing efforts (which may include Webinars, Twitter Spaces, social media) - leveraging Csathy's and Creative Media's brand and reputation as leading experts in the worlds of media, entertainment and tech. The goal is to give as much opportunity and responsibility that the successful candidate desires and can handle (again, with the goal of transitioning to a full-time position).
Qualifications
The candidate should exhibit the following qualifications and skills:
- College degree, with a record of excellence and active participation in organizations and events
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit and energy, preferably with specific examples demonstrating this trait (e.g., via internships)
- Passion and hunger for the worlds of media, entertainment and tech
- Sophisticated knowledge of emerging media, entertainment and tech trends and entrepreneurs/companies (e.g., AI, web3, immersive media)
- Deep experience in, and knowledge of, relevant social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, others)
- Team player who is proactive and brings her/his own reasoned perspective
- Highly organized and responsive (with an understanding of firm deadlines and delivering things when promised)
- Preferably demonstrated sales experience (successfully pitching and acquisition of new clients)
- Preferably knowledge of venture capital and leading venture capital firms (and relevant portfolio companies)
- Preferably a solid understanding of the legal services market
- Preferably a law or paralegal degree
- Ultimately, also fun-loving, intellectually curious, highly principled and honest, deep integrity, trusted, dedicated, excited to learn, and ready to immerse themselves in fascinating new worlds
Compensation
Compensation is primarily success-based to incentivize performance via generous ongoing commissions, although there may be ongoing hourly and fixed paid projects as well. Additionally, it is envisioned that this initial part-time position will transition to a full-time position based on the candidate's success. Additionally and importantly, the successful candidate will not only gain invaluable experience working directly on the cutting edge of the media, entertainment and tech industries (and where they are going), but will also work closely with leading industry expert Peter Csathy and gain the benefit of his extensive industry contacts and relationships. The successful candidate will also receive ongoing mentorship to expand her/his knowledge, skill-set, and industry contacts and relationships.
