About ConsenSys TxRx Advanced Research Team

The core mission of the TxRx team is removing Ethereum 2.0 research blockers. The scope of Ethereum 2.0 research problems exceeds the bandwidth of the current researchers. Our team responds to the challenge by applying traditional software engineering practices together with novel formal engineering approaches.

Our team consists of veteran core developers from Ethereum, Ethereum 2.0 and libp2p. We have strong relationships with Ethereum Foundation researchers and Ethereum 2.0 implementer teams.

About the Role

As an Applied Researcher at TxRx you will contribute to Ethereum 2.0 research by:

• analyzing Ethereum 2.0 specifications, both manually and mechanically
• investigating under-researched areas and/or alternative solutions
• proposing and implementing specification improvements
• prototyping research and proof-of-concept implementations

Engaging with the wider Ethereum 2.0 community is an important part of the role, and gaining and sharing protocol expertise is expected. Ethereum 2.0 remains a project under heavy development and there will be opportunities to contribute to and influence its future design.

Required skills

• 5+ years experience in server-side/back-end development (preferably, in Java or Python);
• Strong experience with Java (or Kotlin) and its ecosystem;
• Experience with Python and its ecosystem;
• Experience in working with Unix-based environments;
• Experience with and/or interest in some of the following areas:
  • Distributed systems and peer-to-peer networking
  • Cryptography
  • Blockchain protocols
  • Ethereum / Ethereum 2.0
  • Formal Methods
  • Compilers, Dataflow Analysis
• Comfortable operating in an Agile environment
• Collaborative by nature; willing to give and receive feedback
• Open to learning
• Understanding we are a globally distributed, remote-first team; Comfortable with handling uncertainty and ambiguity
