About the Team:
The Global Legal team provides legal advice and guidance to OKX and its affiliated entities across all coverage areas and geographic locations, and supports business growth by working with all teams within the company to help them achieve their goals. Our team has attorneys around the world, and handles legal matters in literally hundreds of countries across the globe.
About the Opportunity:
As the Deputy General Counsel leading the newly-created Trading and Markets Practice Group, you will report directly to the General Counsel, who is based in San Francisco, CA. This attorney will work closely with all members of the Global Legal team and business leaders throughout the company. You will be working from OKX's Hong Kong office three days a week. You may work remotely two days a week.
The right candidate will have a basic understanding of and enthusiastic belief in the cryptocurrency/digital asset space, 12+ years of experience working for a top-tier law firm or in-house at a prestigious financial services or trading firm supporting the internal trading desk, and possess excellent writing and analytical skills. The ideal candidate possesses experience in financial services, cryptocurrency/digital assets, trading and capital markets, and securities laws.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting the internal trading desk and trading team located in Hong Kong. This role will be the primary legal point of contact for the trading team, and will be dedicated to providing legal support and guidance relating to OKX's internal trading function;
- To the extent needed, supporting the business in virtually all legal coverage areas, including but not limited to product development, global regulatory matters, IP and trademark enforcement, corporate governance, contract negotiation, compliance legal support, institutional sales and partnerships, and marketing and advertising;
- Analyzing and advising on the legal risk of new and existing digital assets and managing the legal component of the new asset review process;
- Collaborating with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals; and
- Managing legal requests from all areas of the business and effectively advising on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders.
What We Look For In You:
- Law degree at a top-tier law school and qualified to practice law in Hong Kong;
- Resident of Hong Kong;
- 12+ years of trading and capital markets experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in traditional financial services (tradefi) or crypto industry;
- Experience advising on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legal issues (or strong interest and knowledge in the field) and have a basic understanding about the relevant legal and regulatory landscape;
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment;
- Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams;
- Ability to navigate through a rapidly-changing legal landscape and deal with legal ambiguity;
- Ability to work in a high-functioning legal team and feel comfortable in a collaborative working environment;
Nice to Haves:
- Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and a global legal team;
- Experience working on financial services and trading regulatory matters in the United States.
