Web3 Backend Engineer

We are looking for a backend engineer to join the team. You will be working on the Hyperliquid L1, as it grows to support the future of finance. Key decisions at Hyperliquid are driven by the engineering team, and there is generous upside for team members.

We have an office in Singapore and have a strong preference for working in-person.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and optimize the consensus algorithm, database, and trading APIs to run a decentralized onchain order book with hundreds of thousands of transactions per second
• Design and implement financial and trading primitives on the Hyperliquid L1
• Collaborate with Frontend, Product, and Design to ship new user features

About You:

• Very strong systems engineering ability: writing modular, maintainable code within a complex codebase, where correctness is critical
• Interest in performance optimization
• Strong first principles thinker
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication skills
• Competitive programming experience (e.g., Codeforces, IOI, ACM-ICPC) or similar level of programming ability
• Experience with Rust
