BLOCKCHAIN ATTRIBUTION SPECIALIST

Compensation: $42k - $60k estimated

Location: MA Boston, Massachusetts, United States

YOUR PURPOSE

Coin Metrics is recruiting a Blockchain Attribution Specialist to support its market and network product research and development. The specialist will be an integral part of our product creation and the creation of valuable metrics like Free Float Supply, Exchange and Miner Flows, and DeFi metrics. You will play a key role in helping us understand the behavior of projects, protocols, and entities with a large on-chain footprint.

YOUR VALUE

  • Researching blockchain protocols.
  • Classifying addresses on Bitcoin, Ethereum and other chains.
  • Assisting in the creation of heuristics that aim to find and scope relationships between different addresses and entities intra- and inter-blockchains.
  • Connecting with blockchain communities and getting familiar with cryptoasset treasuries.
  • Curating off-chain information that will be attributed to our network and market data.
  • Parsing, processing, or analyzing large data sets.
  • Developing, backtesting, and refining algorithmic methods for tagging/classifying blockchain addresses.
  • Creating and leveraging tools and processes to collect and structure human input into address tagging/classification.
  • Building data visualization tools or dashboards.
  • Writing or contributing to research publications, manuscripts, or documentation.
  • Working collaboratively across key internal functions (Data Sciences, Product, Data Operations, and Data Services) to build and maintain scalable internal data science solutions.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of blockchain and related networks and their data structures
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, or related field, or relevant work experience
  • Familiarity with classification systems
  • Experience in Python or R
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience building and working within complex data pipelines and visualization tools or packages
  • Experience with Unix-based operating systems (especially Linux)
  • Experience developing methods and programs to parse, process, analyze, and comprehend large data sets
  • Strong sense of ownership, entrepreneurial spirit, and/or startup-like experience, capable of driving towards solutions independently while seeking feedback when appropriate

BONUS EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with HTTP (REST) and WebSocket APIs
  • 3+ years experience parsing, processing, analyzing, deriving or testing financial data in a data engineering, data scientist or quant role
  • Extra bonus: experience in applying clustering or other automated techniques to identify related datasets
