Compensation: $63k - $90k estimated

The FVM Project ( https://fvm.filecoin.io/ ) seeks an extraordinary Developer Relations Engineer to help lay the foundation for a more resilient, more secure, decentralized version of the web.

Developer Relations Engineer at Protocol Labs and FVM

Engineering at Protocol Labs is not just about writing world-class code. We create software systems that tackle significant challenges. In re-decentralizing the web, we work on hundreds of open source projects pursuing everything from research to end-user products. Community Engineering at Protocol Labs is focused on growing and nurturing the community around those projects and the broader decentralized web movement. Developer Relations Engineers at Protocol Labs engage both with the technical pieces that make up our systems, and the communities that make them run!

This role is focused on the FVM Project ( https://fvm.filecoin.io/ ), a new virtual machine for user-defined smart contracts that will unlock the full potential of the Filecoin network. FVM aims to (a) support a multitude of programming models for smart contracts / actors and (b) facilitate the onboarding of smart contracts and programs written for other environments, so they can leverage the storage capabilities of the Filecoin network.

This is one of the most exciting upgrades coming to the Filecoin network this year, and as a Developer Relations Engineer, you’d be a core part of shipping this massive upgrade and ensuring the developer community has success building on it.

As a Developer Relations Engineer at Protocol Labs, you will…

  • Onboard new contributors and users of FVM
  • Play a developer relations role to evangelize FVM and get more adoption
  • Facilitate the work of our early builders and developers on the FVM stack

  • Identify what the community struggles with, and find ways to remove that friction
  • Prepare for workshops and engage in proactive presentations with the community
  • Help create a friendly and supportive environment on Github, IRC, and other project forums.
  • Flag issues/projects that are tackled by new contributors to help them join the community.
  • Ensure project documentation for APIs and governance stay in line with project practices.
  • Identify and implement bots and automation, augmenting our interactions with the community.
  • Build new dashboards and micro-sites.

You may be a fit for this role if you have....

  • Experience building communities in open source projects.
  • Experience developing Open Source Software (ideally in web3).
  • Familiarity with smart contract technologies
  • A level of comfort speaking at conferences and developer summits.
  • Strong written communication skills in short form, medium form, and long form.
  • Experience with crypto-related projects

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Go or Rust.
  • Experience running events for developers
  • Experience with Smart contracts, EVM, WASM
