Chainalysis is hiring a Web3 Intelligence Analyst Intern
Compensation: $18k - $27k estimated

Cryptocurrency is rapidly becoming part of our everyday life. The Global Intelligence Team at Chainalysis is made up of world class cryptocurrency analysts who build trust in blockchains by mapping real-world entities to their cryptocurrency activity - from regulated exchanges to criminal networks. This team builds the core data assets that feed all Chainalysis products.
The following are general activities an Intelligence Analyst Intern will perform regardless of placement or topic:
- Break down information into key components, consisting of traditional uses of cryptocurrency to illicit categorical uses and contribute to collection action plans to build clearer understanding.
- Deep analytics in on-chain and off-chain open source intelligence (OSINT) of cryptocurrency usage in specific threat categories identifying current threat trends and emerging threats, providing decision makers with the information they need to make global business decisions for our company and our public and private sector customers.
- Use knowledge and understanding of language, culture and history of specific regions to combat and stay ahead of threats in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
- Play an integral role in refining collection requirements and execution strategy to maintain best-in-class data
- Perform original, native language research to identify and process collections for investigative leads

You will measure your success by your impact on our customer’s mission. You will research cryptocurrency services and conduct ground truth attributions in order to expand our data coverage. You will build your knowledge of a range of categories of cryptocurrency services. You will collaborate with others on the team and across the company to ensure we are focusing on the most impactful areas and answering key intelligence questions to build a stronger understanding of the cryptocurrency domain.

- Have a comprehensive understanding of the cryptocurrency attribution process
- Keep an organized list of new targets to identify
- Have become a go-to person for researching and identifying services
- Have maintained high quality of evidence tied to each identification
- Received the Chainalysis Reactor Certification and the Chainalysis Cryptocurrency Fundamentals Certification and can expertly navigate open-source blockchain analytic tools
A background like this helps:
- Currently pursuing a degree in finance, business, political science, international studies, or related with a graduation date between December 2022 - June 2023
- Open source intelligence (OSINT) or all-source research experience in an intelligence, law enforcement, or academic capacity focused on cybersecurity, transnational crime, or underground activity
- Understanding illicit activity with an emphasis on cryptocurrency
- Prior experience researching and transacting with cryptocurrency services
- Ability to stay organized to keep track of in-progress items as new items are added to the list
- Insatiable curiosity about cryptocurrencies and the growing market
- Additional languages is a plus (focus in Russian, Farsi, Arabic, Mandarin, Korean, Spanish)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
