Web3 Senior Game Economy Designer

ZTX is a virtual world empowering creators and communities. Founded in 2022, ZTX is the blockchain initiative enabled by the technology and IP of ZEPETO — the largest metaverse in Asia with over 430 million lifetime users.

Building with mass adoption in mind, we are creating a web-based 3D open world with varying levels of gamification integrated as well as opportunities for users to monetize via ownership of digital assets and social interaction. Our goal is to empower creators and communities to build, play, and earn — a world where users of all backgrounds can chart their journeys into a world beyond the physical.

ZTX is looking for an experienced Senior Game Economy Designer to lead the economic systems and supporting features of our 3D open world. This is a hands-on role requiring an innovative approach to developing new gaming experiences on the blockchain, in what could possibly become one of the largest crypto-centric metaverse platforms in the world. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of designing, balancing and pricing successful in-game economies.

Responsibilities:

• Model, build, and tune complex game economy systems with multiple currencies, progression systems, sinks, sources and monetization points
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with the team to develop pricing strategies for content drops, paid features and services
• You will establish and tune the economy, including drivers of purchase behavior, gameplay earn rates, purchase packages, pricing, virtual products and special events to improve on meaningful metrics such as engagement time, retention, LTV
• Maintain the post-launch economy, including the incorporation of limited time events, reward structures, and purchases, and adjustments to support new features throughout the product lifecycle
• You will be the contact and resident authority on your areas of the game economy, including the economy health, corresponding daily game updates, and content pricing
• Continuously evaluate the economic systems and evaluate their performance and impact on player experience
• Create clear design documentation that explicitly answers the why’s of design decisions
• Be a consistent source of clarity and positive energy

About You:

• 6+ years experience in game economy design
• 2+ years optimizing live service games
• Ability to translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations
• Understand game and economy balance and pacing in online games
• Deep understanding of player motivations for online social games
• Model problems into quantitative systems, anticipate downstream effects, and draw conclusions
• Statistical knowledge, able to create ratios and indexes specific to each game, identifying specific weaknesses and strengths in its economy design
• Curious, open minded, and flexible to adapt based on a continuously evolving frontier of new technologies
• A strong interest to build an open metaverse platform that onboards millions of web2 users to web3
• Familiar with the crypto ecosystem (DeFi, NFTs, identity)
• Energized to work with a fully decentralized team that spans multiple time zones

Bonus Points:

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Marketing, or Business
• Experience working with SQL
• Knowledge of microeconomics and pricing theory
• An understanding of client/server architecture and data collection pipeline and mining
