Figment is hiring a Web3 Systems Developer (Full Stack)
Compensation: $58k - $75k estimated
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
About the Role
The Staking Research Team is seeking a Systems Developer (Full Stack) to support our operations, including building and supporting research systems, cross-application integrations, and workflow automations. As a member of the Staking Research Team, the candidate should have a deep curiosity and interest in blockchain technology and possess a strong desire to learn Figment’s processes for supporting protocols, primarily those involving risk mitigation and business development.
This is a full-time, remote-first position. Figment has 40 employees, which speak 7 native languages and are located cross North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Preference for location is Western Hemisphere (between PST and EST time zones) due to the close working relationship the role will play with the Staking Research Team Lead.
The Systems Developer will help with the design, development, testing, documentation, and support of systems used by the Staking Research Team, many of which involve the integration of multiple systems and data sources to automate repetitive, yet mission-critical tasks. It is critical that the candidate can work both collaboratively with others when developing requirements for systems as well as independently as a lead developer when building and maintaining the systems. The candidate must possess demonstrable problem-solving, creative thinking, and project management skills.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Oversee the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for all research systems, including drafting requirements specification documents, design documents, test cases and analysis, data dictionaries, technical manuals, and user training guides.
- Rapidly develop working prototypes of proposed systems, cross-application integrations, and workflow automations which can be used while long-term, production versions can be developed.
- Quickly discover, analyze, and optimize workflows involving cloud-based applications used by the Staking Research Team, including (but not limited to) Notion, Slack, Jira, Confluence, and Gsuite.
- Develop systems, integrations, and automations using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Google Script, JSON, JQuery, PHP, and related applications as required by the requirements specification and cloud-based applications involved.
- Design, build, and maintain databases using MySQL, Amazon RDS, or Amazon DynamoDB.
- Design, build, and maintain REST API endpoints and cross-application integrations.
Qualifications
- Attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to lead presentations and teleconferences.
- Personable and comfortable utilizing the SDLC with teammates who need to be involved with the systems design process but may not possess a “programmer vocabulary.”
- At least one year (and ideally three or more years) operating as a lead developer to build systems and applications similar to those described above (development for personal usage or in an entrepreneurial capacity will qualify).
- Enthusiasm about the role as well as a strong passion and conviction about blockchain technology and what it means to the future of the internet.
