Based in London and Porto (Portugal), Applied Blockchain has an expert team of 90 engineers creating cutting-edge solutions for innovative clients in a range of sectors. Clients include Shell (also an investor in the company), Algorand, Chainlink, and Ledger.
We are building a new generation of decentralised solutions and products, working through some of the most interesting technical problems in this field such as data privacy, identity and wallet management, smart contract design, advanced cryptography (incl. zero knowledge proofs, secure multi party computation and trusted executed environments) and data security.
Job Description
The role involves identifying and understanding client requirements, architecting and designing bespoke solutions using advanced blockchain technologies, and creating detailed proposals.
- A solution architect will work with each client to identify and understand their business and technical requirements.
- Guide the client through the various solution options, educating them on the technology and the most optimal and future proof way to address their requirements.
- Design and document a high level architecture, explaining the reasoning behind their decisions.
- Design sophisticated technical solutions and be able to make technical decisions in real time as client requirements are understood.
- Identify all technical issues of the client to ensure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the process.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with the clients.
- Work closely with the technical leads and development teams to explain and handover the architecture of the project for implementation.
- Accompany and support the technical leads and developments to address changes to client requirements that impact the architecture design.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed proposals listing functional and non-functional requirements
- Convey customer requirements to product managers and development teams.
- Give regular status updates to other members of the business development team and program/project managers.
- Stay up to date with a rapidly changing industry to develop an understanding of newly developed solutions in the market, with the ability to understand solutions in-depth, including the implications of their designs.
Must
- Have worked as an architect creating project designs for bespoke solutions developed from the ground up.
- Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a fintech organisation with a rapidly expanding team and customer base.
- Knowledge and experience of blockchain technology (ideally Ethereum)
- Ability to write code in one or more general purpose programming languages such as Javascript, Java, C/C++, Rust.
- Understand major cloud vendor stacks and offerings (AWS, Azure)
- Proven track record collaborating with others in a dynamic, fast-paced, pressured environment, but capable of turning an abstract idea into a strategic, pragmatic solution where needed.
- A careful blend of creativity and pragmatism. We are part of a community bootstrapping a technology and demand for the technology, while simultaneously delivering on tight delivery timelines.
- Excellent communications skills, comfortable presenting complex concepts before large client audiences.
- Ability to effectively summarise and present validation findings to senior level executives internally and at clients.
