The Opportunity: Uphold is looking for a Director, Taxation & Regulatory Reporting to join our global Finance and Accounting team. This is primarily a tax position with responsibility for the overall management of the tax function within our company. In addition, there will be some regulatory reporting requirements.
This position is Full-Time, and reports to the Chief Financial officer (CFO). This is a hybrid position, onsite 2 times per week at our New York office.
What you’ll be doing primarily:
- Prepare tax provision schedules by reviewing, preparing, and consolidating provision schedules including domestic and international subsidiaries.
- Recommend tax strategies by researching international, federal, state, and local taxation issues.
- Maintain legislative materials by reviewing, interpreting, and implementing new or revised laws.
- Maintain compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities.
- Responsible for international tax matters including VAT and international business taxes.
- Responsible for ensuring transfer pricing and expense sharing appropriate and applied in accordance with relevant tax rules.
- Manage external consulting firms in the preparation and review of the US and international tax returns, and estimated tax payments.
- Prepare or review journal entries.
- Oversee US Regulatory financial reporting and work with other regions
- Check over certain quarterly regulatory filings completed by others
- Complete any special projects requested by management.
Required qualifications:
- Strong organization and follow-up skills including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitments
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- International Tax experience with a public accounting firm (6-10 years) strongly preferred
- Tax preparation experience
- Knowledge of US and international business and sales taxes (including VAT in Europe)
- CPA license a plus
- Master’s degree a plus
- Experience with bookkeeping software, including NetSuite
- Attention to detail
- Fluent written and oral English Skills
Bonus if you have:
- Experience with capital markets, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of banking frameworks and payment methods.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $170,000 DOE
