Lead Engineers - Venture CTO’s at BCG Digital Ventures play a critical role in managing client relationships, leading the building and development of new technologies, as well as managing and mentoring Senior and Associate members of the team. You will have the opportunity to spearhead new innovations across an exciting array of globally recognized organizations across green energy, consumer goods, transportation and logistics, healthcare, finance, insurance, and more.

We are looking for creative problem solvers and solutions-driven leaders who are excited about emerging technologies to join our growing teams in New York City, Manhattan Beach, and Chicago.

As a Lead Engineer - Venture CTO with BCGDV, you will:

  • Oversee all elements of the Engineering team within respective ventures including:
    • Defining strategy and technical blueprint
    • Selecting the best tech stacks for each unique project/client
    • Managing all dedicated engineering talent, which includes internal teams as well as any external vendors & contractors
    • Providing expert technical guidance to all functional areas including strategy, operations, sales and product
    • Manage the end-to-end technology execution

  • Participate in your venture’s strategic planning process, coordinating with Product Management to align engineering and business priorities
  • Identify risks and opportunities for each project, taking into account the unique needs of each client in performance, scalability, and security
  • Lead sprint planning, delivery, and release management processes
  • Coach, mentor and develop more junior members of the team, supporting our culture of curiosity, entrepreneurship, and excellence
  • Participate in interview processes for candidates within engineering and across other teams


As a Lead Engineer - VCTO at BCGDV you have:

Technical Skills:

  • 8+ years professional experience in software development
  • 3+ years overseeing engineering teams, and/or project or process management experience
  • Experience with industry leading technologies including but not limited to Javascript, python, node.js, Java, C#, Go, nosql, React etc.
  • Knowledge of DevOps and cloud infrastructure services (Containerization based deployments on either AWS or Azure preferred)
  • Experience with building service-based architecture including use of micro services frameworks
  • Experience in establishing product reliability (e.g. disaster recovery, business continuity plan, scalability planning etc.)
  • Experience with building service-based architecture including use of micro services frameworks
  • Proven ability to set technical vision and build the technical product roadmap from launch to scale
  • Drive continuous product improvement
  • Effectively align resources to achieve key business priorities, including appropriate scope, high quality and timely product releases

Qualitative Skills:

  • Executive level stakeholder management experience - you will be working with technical and non technical external partners, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into easily understood language for non-engineering audiences is critical.
  • Dynamic storytellers with excellent written, verbal and social communication skills
  • Ability to identify opportunities and challenges in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of technological advancements and innovation to cut costs, mitigate impediments and drive success
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills - including requirements analysis, debugging and risk assessment

What’ll make you stand out as a candidate:

  • Deep interest in emerging technologies such as Blockchain, Augmented/Virtual Reality, IoT, AI, Web3 etc.
  • Industry expertise (i.e. healthcare, energy, industrial goods, financial services, insurance, consumer packaged goods, telecom, logistics )
  • Experience with application security and regulatory compliance statutes (i.e. HIPAA, PCI, PII, AML)
  • BA/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
