The team
We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst for our Corporate Finance team. In this role, you will play a key role in driving key elements of financial planning, budgeting, reporting, forecasting and analysis. This highly visible role will support strategic decision making by leveraging analyses, investment frameworks, strategic insights and a problem solving focused mindset to drive action and growth. In addition, this role will provide integral support for our core services and platform teams that support all of Kraken, to enable long term efficient growth at scale. As a member of the Corporate Finance team, you will help craft holistic company insights and perspectives to help shape the future of Kraken in a dynamic and everchanging environment.
The Corporate Finance team is part of the broader Strategic Finance team that works closely with Product, Treasury, Corporate Development, Accounting, and other cross functional teams on revenue, expense, and liquidity strategy. The Strategic Finance team also advises senior leaders to continuously drive product decisions, optimize investments, and evaluate trade offs.
The opportunity
Assist with forecasting, budgeting and the long-range planning process for the entire business, coordinating with internal partners and stakeholders on managing the business.
Preparation of management reporting and presentations including month-end close reporting, board reporting, and monthly/quarterly business reviews.
Track headcount across all departments – including active roster, open roles and compensation levers – and link to budgeting and financial forecasts.
Participate in monthly meetings with Finance leadership to review spend and variance analysis.
Work closely with the data team to ensure all data outputs are validated and accurate.
Enhance the understanding at the corporate finance level of critical business performance drivers and maintain a good view of business strengths and weaknesses
Identify, develop, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for FP&A.
Partner closely with Treasury and Capital Markets on liquidity management.
Assist with ad hoc projects and analysis that will drive strategic decision-making.
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Skills you should HODL
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
3-5+ years of experience with a proven track record in Investment Banking, Consulting or Finance & Strategy in a high growth tech public company
Ideal candidate would have strong financial/strategic analysis and modeling skill sets with a background in FP&A, Business Finance, Equity Research or Capital Markets
Excellent problem solving, quantitative and analytical skills and a track record of delivering results on corporate wide initiatives
The ability to distill complex information into clear problem statements that can be systematically analyzed and communicated; frames both approaches and solutions in a way that is actionable for all audiences
Comfort working with metrics, building new KPIs and navigating large data sets to find answers to complex problems
Ability to navigate ambiguous workstreams and build processes from scratch
Knowledge of financial markets and strong passion in cryptocurrency
High degree of curiosity and self motivation to understand the “why” behind all decisions
SQL / Querying Experience a plus
Prior experience working in the crypto industry a plus
