We’re building the infrastructure that will power the decentralized future.
As a fast-growing tech company, we’re looking for builders and innovators — people who thrive in the face of uncertainty and are motivated to make an impact. We are also looking for true teammates - people who are genuine, humble, and driven to level up together. If you're excited to shape the future, contribute to an energetic company culture, and work at the cutting edge of blockchain technology, we want you to join our team and help us lead the charge!
About the opportunity
Join Figment as a Senior DevOps Engineering Manager and lead the team responsible for running blockchain nodes and infrastructure at scale. This team plays a critical role in our mission to support the decentralized internet by operating high-performance, secure, and reliable blockchain nodes across dozens of protocols.
In this role, you will own the successful execution of new chain launches, treating each as a time-sensitive project with its own stakeholders, dependencies, and risks. You are accountable for ensuring launches happen on time and to spec — and when issues arise, you are expected to escalate early and clearly.
If you thrive in fast-paced, high-stakes environments and bring a bias for ownership, urgency, and follow-through, this is the role for you.
How you will make an impact
- Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers responsible for maintaining production blockchain nodes across a growing portfolio of protocols during their entire lifecycle.
- Own and drive new chain launches from genesis — ensuring deadlines are met, stakeholders are coordinated, and blockers are escalated early.
- Serve as project manager for team deliverables, ensuring all tasks are clearly tracked, prioritized, and executed. When a commitment is made, you own it.
- Maintain high visibility into the status of every chain launch or upgrade. Leadership and cross-functional teams look to you for updates on statuses and updated Jira dashboards/tasks.
- Proactively escalate risks, shifts in scope, or missing inputs with clarity and urgency.
- Manage team workflows including Jira boards, retrospectives, and delivery tracking while continuously improving team velocity and execution quality.
- Maintain a high bar for operational readiness — including on-call processes, monitoring, and incident response — to ensure production-grade reliability.
- Support and grow your team through 1:1s, feedback, performance reviews, and development planning.
- Foster a team culture grounded in accountability, urgency, and ownership — with clear expectations around follow-through and autonomy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across protocol, product, and customer teams to align on priorities, scope, and delivery expectations.
- Own hiring and onboarding of new team members, building a high-performing team with a shared sense of responsibility.
What you bring to the team
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer — particularly in Linux-based environments managing production systems and networking at scale.
- 4+ years of experience managing engineers (5–10 reports), with a focus on people development, delivery accountability, and team health.
- 3+ years of experience managing project-based delivery cycles, including setting priorities, coordinating stakeholders, tracking deadlines, and unblocking execution.
- Demonstrated success operating infrastructure with 24/7 uptime requirements and production on-call responsibilities.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills — able to track many moving pieces across chains, vendors, and internal teams.
- Experience leading incident reviews and postmortems with a focus on long-term reliability and learning.
- Comfort working in highly dynamic, startup-like environments where priorities shift rapidly.
Nice to Haves
- Experience operating blockchain infrastructure or working on validator teams.
- Familiarity with node setup, chain genesis procedures, or peer-to-peer networks.
- Experience running infrastructure across multiple clouds or bare-metal providers.
