Web3 Research Analyst

Compensation: $75k - $145k

DESCRIPTION: The Research Analyst is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate individual to join the team at Foundry, a subsidiary of the blockchain industry’s most prolific and active investor, Digital Currency Group. Reporting to the VP of Digital Asset Research, the Research Analyst will advance Foundry’s institutional understanding of Bitcoin, Bitcoin mining, and the broader digital asset industry by compiling, processing, and disseminating technical research to the organization.

This is a rare invitation to join a small, highly professional entrepreneurial group, with the backing of the most established player in the fast-growing crypto space.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Research Analyst is primarily responsible for creating technical reports, identifying and analyzing trends in the mining industry, and acting as an internal advisor to other teams on technical protocol matters.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Plan, draft, and publish internal research reports focused on Bitcoin mining, Bitcoin data, emerging Bitcoin technical changes, and other in scope digital assets. Disseminate research findings to leadership and broader Foundry team
  • Work with Data team to identify, capture, and interpret key metrics from various sources including on-chain and power markets
  • Supporting early development proof of concept tooling, applications, and products as a technical resource to developers
  • Work with Strategy and Finance teams on bitcoin industry research and modeling of impacts to Foundry USA Pool
  • Support external communication on Bitcoin mining technology and industry trends
  • Identify, digest, and disseminate overviews of external research

Minimum Qualifications; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 2 years of experience in technology, financial services, or academic fields
  • Understanding of Bitcoin and the broader the digital asset space via direct experience with operating a node, mining, staking, or analyzing protocol source code
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; concise and actionable articulation of complex concepts for a non-technical audience
  • Ability to interact with large data sets programmatically (SQL, Python) including on-chain data, financial data, and energy market data
  • Goal oriented and self-motivated; Comfort working remotely and with a team of pseudonymous individuals. Some Travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A degree in History, Philosophy, Computer Science, or Finance
  • Demonstrated contributions to the digital asset industry
  • Experience mining bitcoin with ASICs
  • Experience operating a Lightning node

The salary range for this role is $75,000-$145,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range oof possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This range only includes base compensation and does not include other tangible benefits such as 401K match, bonuses, overtime pay, and other benefits.
