DevOps department The mission of the DevOps department is: Provide and ensure the proper operation of staging and production environments required to host and run organization products and services. Monitor every infrastructure company asset while maintaining the highest possible uptime.Build & deliver tools and best practices in order to facilitate infrastructure daily tasks. (Cross brand/projects/platforms/teams) Provide technical infrastructure/networking support and guidance to every internal team in the organization. Provide the best devops staff in terms of expertise and skills, attitude and technology trends, according to the requirements of the organization.
The Head of Devops main duty is to: Provide technical direction for activities in all tiers of the DevOps department, including the orchestration/automation of system configuration, application deployment, application configuration, performance engineering, cloud deployments/management and monitoring. Help coordinate the efforts of product development teams with operations teams, and give them the support during the whole projects’ lifecycle to accomplish their goals. Facilitate the professional and personal growth of the DevOps department staff. Participate in the DevOps staff recruitment process. Coordinate with CTO and other technical areas the best practices and support projects and products. Manage service providers relationships and collaborate on contract negotiations. Responsible for fostering new tools/services POC and Demos to empower IOV current infrastructure.
Main responsibilities: Lead and mentor a growing DevOps team.Accurately scope multiple concurrent project requirements and manage delivery timelines. Clearly understand business and technology dependencies and work with cross-functional teams to assist in delivering products in a timely manner. Collaborate with Development, Architecture/Engineering, and Operations at all levels to foster successful partnerships critical to the design, development, testing, and implementation of automated/continuous delivery solutions. Understand delivery requirements, identify process and knowledge gaps and work to bridge them. Assign and monitor work of technical personnel, ensuring that application development and deployment is done in the best possible way. Make sure that every devops team member has a clear visibility on his career path inside the organization and jointly define individual goals. Leading team meetings to help team members understand the company visionInspire creativity and innovation.
Hands On: Provide support and solving issues in development, test and production instances. Build, deploy, configure, and maintain systems, which may include software installations, updates, and core services.3rd layer 24x7 OnCall for critical issues / outages.
Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Strong product management skills to understand requirements, describe product features, technical designs and timelines. 3+ years experience leading software, devops or engineering teams. Ability to be forward-thinking, proactive, comfortable working with minimal specifications and navigating through ambiguity. Experience in hiring, mentoring and managing engineers in a diversity and inclusion environment. Experience with Agile methodologies.
Desired experiences in any of the following languages: Python, Java.Experience with source control, continuous integration and testing pipelines. Experience with software delivery cycles.Desired experience working with open-source projects. Experience working with container orchestration systems as Kubernetes, Docker, Helm or Public could engineering on AWS, GCP or AzureExperience in configuration management technologies such as ansible, terraform, puppet. Experience in monitoring, metrics, SLA/SLO, dashboards, and related statistical functions.
