Position Summary:
The Vice President, Security is responsible for leading Event and Non-Event Security and Risk Management services by planning, monitoring, directing, delegating, controlling, and managing all functions of the Security department for the venue. This position will liaison with the Security Leaders on campus to ensure the safety and security of our employees, guests, venues and company.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and oversee the Security department. Establish annual objectives for all reporting personnel. Implement and ensure compliance with department objectives and policies. Oversight of the Venue Safety Team and Policies.
- Secure and maintain safety of our guests, clients, employees, and assets at all times. Analyzes recommendations on security systems and practices, including emerging technologies, keeping the venue as a leader in the industry in venue safety. Works with AEG Risk Management to proactively address guest safety and security concerns.
- Oversees staffing plans to ensure a safe and courteous experience for our guests and clients. Recommends strategies to balances clients’ wants with guests needs and venue’s objectives.Reviews staffing estimates to balance high level service delivery with efficiencies for cost savings and fiscal responsibilities.
- Effectively manage the department, providing necessary leadership, training, support and guidance. Creates and maintains talent pipelines for succession planning.
- In collaboration with the SVP, plans, submits, and oversees both department budgets and capital expenditure proposals. Proactively submits supporting documentation. Ensures department expenses are allocated appropriately and works with department director to keep expenses within operating budgets and event estimates.
- Act as a Building Manager on Duty for Crypto.com Arena. Oversee event logistics ensuring priorities in decision-making are based on safety. Respond immediately in the event of an emergency to make key decisions and communicate with staff in emergency situations.
- Plan, lead, and participate in operational meetings to best communicate with other departments, entities, and clients to accomplish venue-wide goals and objectives.
- Responsible for identifying security service vendors, negotiating contracts, and implementing new systems and procedures; Champion, communicate and take ownership of the security strategy and success in the venue. Represent the venue in campus meetings. Establish positive and collaborate relationships with customers, vendors, local and state government officials and AEG business units.
- Responsible for championing the awareness and influencing compliance with security and safety policies and providing solutions for business specific security issues. Monitor and assess threats and the impact and possible losses and develop security procedures to mitigate and reduce these losses.
- Plan, lead, and participate in operational meetings to best communicate with other departments, entities, and clients to accomplish venue-wide goals and objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred).
- A minimum of 10+ years of related work experience with a minimum of 5 years’ event management/planning/execution experience in a sports and/or live entertainment venue.
- Thorough knowledge physical security systems, including CCTV, fire alarm systems, access control systems and radio communication systems.
- Experience as a liaison with governmental resources, including police and fire departments, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, FBI and other local, state and federal resources.
- Experienced public speaker with professional presentation skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating an ability to work under pressure, multi-task (day-to-day tasks as well as long-term projects), recognize problems and find solutions.
- Experience overseeing groups or departments consisting of a large number of part-time and full-time staff.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.
- Ability to read/write/communicate effectively in English.
- Proficient in policy and procedure writing and training.
- Ability to remain stationary or move about for extended periods of time. Ability to lift/push/pull or otherwise move items weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to work long hours, with a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- IAVM Venue Management School graduate
- OSHA 10 Certified Safety Trainer
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification
- Certified Sports Security Professional certification (CSSP)
- Americans with Disabilities Act – advocate/trainer
Pay Scale: $200,000 - $220,000
