The Multiplayer Group (MPG) are 300 developers and data scientists, helping our clients and partners build 20+ AAA projects at any one time. We’re probably the most experienced multiplayer dev group in the world and we’re set up to help the games industry make games more easily, to deliver the highest quality, and become long-term partners.

We hire the best people, our talented team is spread across the globe. We’re remote-friendly and big on wellbeing, so if you love the sound of us, we’d love to hear from you!

MPG Art Academy is a dedicated programme to allow people to acquire first-hand knowledge and expertise in the world of video game development. It’s open to those who would like to take their first steps into the gaming industry as a Game Artist.

You’ll join us as an Academy Game Artist, on a 6 month fixed term remote contract, which is a full-time, remote and paid position with us.

After you have successfully completed our Art Academy, there’s a chance for you to join us on a permanent basis as an Associate Game Artist.

Your mission:

You’re an Artist who has experience to call upon. You could be considered a Generalist, being interested in multiple areas of game art development, from 2D to 3D, from VFX to animation and all that’s in between.

By joining our Art Academy, you’ll be working your way through structured, learning modules and assignments. You’ll be working alongside our production, design, QA and engineering teams in helping to deliver quality art content for our R&D and Game Jam teams, whilst learning more about each art craft.

You have a desire to explore and experiment, with a can-do attitude towards problem solving. You can take the initiative on projects whilst demonstrating an eagerness to learn and improve your craft. You’re happy to work collaboratively across the team to ensure the best possible ideas are professionally presented and realised in-game.

What you'll be doing:

    • Follow visual direction and briefs to create game assets, animations, VFX, concepts, shaders and more
    • Help solve creative and technical challenges across a variety of projects
    • Work using relevant 3D & 2D tools & game engines - plus game development software such as version control and production tools
    • Identify and log tasks, track and report on progress
    • Attend stand-ups, craft meetings, deep-dives, reviews, show and tells, etc

What we'll need from you:

    • A graduate level portfolio/showreel
    • A relevant university degree or equivalent course
    • Good knowledge of typical art tools and game engines
    • A good communicator with the ability to verbalise conceptual thoughts and the willingness to accept constructive critique

What would help:

    • Experience using Unreal Engine or Unity
    • A passion for game development and art
