CoinDesk is looking for an analyst to cover cryptocurrencies and related investment opportunities.The role involves writing and publishing research and analysis, both in-depth and in rapid response to emerging market data, macroeconomic data, fundamentals and news events. A strong candidate will combine experience in investment strategy with written and verbal communication skills, curiosity, and an eagerness to test new ideas in a dynamic, emerging industry. You will be part of a team that has an opportunity to define the metrics that will be used by investors to evaluate cryptocurrencies for decades to come.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain original methodologies for analyzing cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
• Write original analysis, in-depth or brief, describing investment strategies and reacting to emerging news that could include events such as changes in fundamental data metrics, central bank news, geopolitical news or dramatic shifts in market dynamics.
• Take ownership of a weekly newsletter that reaches an audience of sophisticated investors.
• Work with diverse data sources to form analyses and elucidate them in charts and other data visualizations that are easy for sophisticated investors to understand.
• Collaborate closely with reporters to improve the quality of CoinDesk news reporting.
• Present analyses verbally in press interviews, live or recorded TV/audio/video, podcasts, conference calls, and webinars.

Requirements:

• Experience in finance. We are open-minded: for example, the right candidate could be an analyst, a financial journalist or a trader.
• Comfort with a variety of data categories and forms of analysis: this role will be called upon to perform analysis across a variety of areas.
• Written communication skills.
• Presentation skills.
• Teamwork skills.

Nice to have, but not required:

• Excellent data visualization skills.
• Cryptocurrency domain knowledge.
• Located in West Coast U.S. or East Asia.
• CFA.
• Foreign language abilities, especially Mandarin Chinese.
• Experience developing quantitative models for financial research.
