Careers at Paxful is hiring a Web3 Financial Crimes & Investigations Analyst

Working alongside our Financial Crimes & Investigations Manager, the Financial Crimes & Investigations Analyst will be charged with playing an integral role in Paxful’s efforts to counter the evolving financial crime landscape. S/he will become a skilled financial crime and investigations expert while serving as a defender of Paxful’s brand, platform and customers in the fight against financial crime. What You’ll Do
- Respond to law enforcement requests for information by gathering relevant records
- Investigate activity related to law enforcement requests for information by utilizing blockchain analytics tools, transaction monitoring tools, open source intelligence (OSINT)
- Utilize blockchain analytics to investigate alerted bitcoin transactions
- Review and monitor complex customer verification documents to search for patterns of malicious behavior
- Communicate with customers to conduct enhanced due diligence, understand transaction patterns, or other suspicious account activity
- Conduct Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) investigations linking possible criminal activity
- Share investigative findings across teams, and contribute through projects, procedures, policies, or product improvements
- Conduct investigations for potentially suspicious activity and conduct all job duties in accordance to Paxful’s rules and regulations
Who You Are
We are looking for a candidate who is curious, detail oriented, diligent, collaborative, and applies critical thinking when conducting investigations. The nature of financial crime is constantly evolving and so must those who fight it; as such we are seeking someone who will deep dive into transaction patterns, blockchain exposure, and open source intelligence. Additionally, we seek someone with integrity, professionalism and who is unafraid to ask questions or ask for help when needed.
What We’re Looking For
- 1-2 years or previous work experience in the compliance/risk sector
- Interest and/or experience in cryptocurrency investigations and/or compliance
- Experience analyzing transactions in an investigations or compliance role
- Experience using blockchain analytics is preferred
- Have an understanding of different business models, customer types, country risks and regulatory requirements across multiple geographies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- The following certifications, although not required, are helpful and would be looked upon favorably (as well as the desire and motivation to obtain): CAMS, CAFCA, CRC.
- Natural curiosity, ability (and aptitude) to leverage public domain information and refine into actionable open source intelligence (OSINT).
- Experience with MS Office and/or GSuite are necessary. Experience in or aptitude for utilizing internet tools for effectively searching public domain information is necessary. Knowledge of SQL is not required, but will be looked upon favorably.
